Thank you all. Yes, this really is a fantastic hat. I hated for it to be with Art so long but it was worth the wait. The brim was way wider than I wear but I did not want to tamper with this caliber of hat and I love the old western look so it made sense to curl the brim.

I didn't measure the crown before I sent it off but I'm sure it is 6 inches or very close to it. Finished, it is 5 1/4 in back and 4 1/4 in front. The brim is 3 1/2 overall, so finished it is about 3 inches with about a 1/2 inch curl.

The size tag is off but I do have it ( 7 1/4). Frankly, I have not looked under the sweat or liner very much but I'll get to that in a few days.

Thanks again and be sure that I will be posting more pics of this beauty as fall comes around!

Most days these would be a standout hat, but today I’m bottom rung with this Stetson Sovereign Twenty. 2 3/4” felted edge brim and a wonderful gray with strong blue tones.

Super look you've turned that one into, Brent. Love the blue tones in the grey.

Sometimes, rarely, even some old hat is my size

"Lobbia" Barbisio REX size 59, black felt
View attachment 184449
Sold in Berlin at the Max Eckard store
View attachment 184450
The interest for this Barbisio is the fact that inside the sweat band there is stamped the origin of the skin: Paris - France and a date that I cannot decipher the month and day, but the year is 1939 (for a clear picture I have to use professional equipment)

The felt is very soft and silky, in its composition there is fur and also wool

These are the dimensions: 5.5 curled brims, 14 cm open crown. the finishes are first class

A eighty years old hat from Sagliano Micca will worth some thrilling in delivery
A fantastic, gorgeous hat, Daniele. And what interesting hat history it reveals. Congratulations.

The box is a piece of art work in its own right. You scored a double win there Bama. Love to see more pics of it.

Thanks for the kind words on the hat, Steve. I'm usually indifferent to hat boxes because, while I enjoy them, they present their own set of problems. Some you just want to have while others are just a box to take up space. This one got my attention, though. Don't remember another with the same graphics. I probably just haven't seen one yet. It's a nice paper print applied over a cardboard box. Very simple but the graphics have it all and have remained in good shape. Here you go.

Thanks for sharing the box photos, Greg. Must be the Dickensian Englishman in me, but that is one great box.

I've seen them before, but few and far between. And normally in not such good shape. Yours is especially vibrant. I think this design is fairly old, but can't pinpoint anything.

Thanks, Jim. I keep hoping some folks with knowledge of these Canadian hats can weigh in on the era.
Greg:
I see you turned the sweat out for the label pic but did you turn it all the way out? I recall something about the Canadian ones stamping the date on the inside sometimes. I could be wrong.

Another Bowler to the collection and another Manchester hat, too.

I believe this one to be inter-war years: closer to WWI than WWII in my opinion, so late teens or early to mid twenties.

I don't believe Hartley & Boedeker survived after WWII, so I'm very pleased with this find.

It's in need of a bit of a clean. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
