Just in. Custom VS Blue Smoke. 2 in. Sharks Gill. 2 3/8 under welt brim. 6 inch open crown. In a word: "Wow!" Wanted a lighter piece that didn't "scream" 'look at me.' With a darker skin tone, some lighter colors take the eyes away from the total 'me,' if you know what I mean. As I venture deeper into collecting, I am aware of certain colors and dimensions of hats that are more appealing...And not just to purchase for purchase sake. I am very pleased!!

That is a beauty NewJack. Very nice.

It is true I have a soft spot in my heart for Barbisio historical production and also when the brand was produced in Cappellicifio Cervo in Sagliano Micca - Biella three hundreds meters further from the Barbisio factory
vdlhlf.jpg

This homburg seems never worn and was made in the historical factory so prior 1981
esvoxx.jpg

Barbisio Classic, color is "Umbria" with matching ribbon
2hfut8n.jpg

The proportions are: brim at 5.5 cm crown at 10.5 cm and ribbon at 4 cm.
250o583.jpg

The felt is of medium density very well malleable without steam
30k8089.jpg

The measure is 4 1/2 that is 56 cm.

It is now in the box for its trip to Netherlands to be in the huge collection of Stefan

C. G. Wilke "Helios", 58cm, Wool, 186 grams, possibly late 1920s to 1930s. This Wool Stiff Felt is in near mint condition so a great find. The liner really shines especially at the center so that might be the reason for calling it "Helios". I didn't get a good photo of the label because I didn't want to break the super fine threads that hold the sweatband together. The sweatband has a reed on the outer edge which is fairly common with old German and Austrian Stiff Felts.

Pristine Max. Love everything about this one. Color, sweat and classic Playboy lines, right down to the brim width. I'm enjoying all of these hats right along with you.

Navy velour Agnoulita: 2 3/4 brim, 6” open crown. More in the Agnoulita thread.

Oooooh nice finish! I'll check out your review of this one too. Fuzzy good times.

My Hufvud arrived today. Just over a month from placing the order. I LOVE this hat. I’ll write a complete review in the Hufvud thread for any who are interested.

Mike, if you haven’t tried a dress weight hat using FEPSA rabbit and hare blend felt you need to. I was shocked at how much I liked it.

Mike Miller had a couple FEPSA bodies a while back. I was really impressed. I wonder what other colors your Sweden connection has? I seem to remember him posting a while back, is that where you got his info? Does he have a web presence?

He started a thread here a while back and I’ve been posting there. He also has an Etsy shop, but aside from the payment which went through Etsy, we communicated outside Etsy via email. His fluency in English made me embarrassed that I can’t speak another language; perfect grammar and syntax and a great vocabulary too. He really was a pleasure to work with. Free shipping and order to delivery of just over one month!

Panizza was, in my experience, the more traditional of the main Italians hats producers
2iibnlz.jpg

I was very delight when I found this Panizza in deep gray / silver felt finished with medium hair. The color in in changing light is astounding
29gc0hc.jpg

The production of this hat is, personal opinion, been made in the 80s or at most ninety along with some "Guerra 1855" with the same type of felt from a third part, maybe Cappelifico Falcus or Tesi in the Tuscan hats district
oaqlis.jpg

I do not know if at the closure of the Panizza factory in 1981 the production has ceased totally or some hat has been finished over the years, but this is a hat of “Panizza quality” above all for the beauty of the felt, very soft and lustre
f2mw0j.jpg

The proportions are as follows: raw brim to 6 cm. crown at 9.5 and the ribbon is 4 cm.
2aexp9f.jpg

The “modern” paper label shows the color number which is 2, no other indications
2e57aye.jpg

It seems very little worn, ready to travel to Holland
