Got this sweet blue hat today . I'm guessing 40s on the era if any experts know feel free to correct that.

Very nice, hard to tell about dating. Love the ribbon. That brand is a new one to me, maybe the tags under the sweat will give some clues.

beautiful ... great box as well
congrats on a fine piece
Thanks Moon, that means a lot!! I am still pretty much in shock over finding this in a little antique shop in Wisconsin...............
It is a really cool hat and the felt is simply wonderful.......color is almost heathered.......has very fine hints of subtle grey and brown...seems like a true silverbelly (uncolored, unbleached)........just beautiful.
As you can see I am quite pleased.....

I can clearly see from the photos that it is indeed a special one

clean as a whistle as well

enjoy that one thoroughly my friend ... it's a damn beaut

Even though it's a bit out of my personal comfort zone, this thing is freakin' beautiful.

Yes, it is even a "little" out of mine as late.....though there was a time when western hats and Tony Lama boots were the thing.......I even have one pair left ;).....though what am I saying???????? I wear suits and sportcoats with bow ties and fedoras........this will bring only a very little more attention to myself
And as I still attend hisorical re-enactments in those cloths :eek: I really should have nothing to fear with this hat...........:)

I really love the bow on that one! Very nice!

And, YES......thank you......it is a wonderful ribbon treatment........everything about this hat is........well.........AWSOME!!!!!

I plan on pairing with a suit or sportcoat soon......for a trip in the wild......I hope it behaves.

That is a super find. I know Daniel would say, hell, wear that one everywhere except to bed! LOL! LOVE the ribbon and bow treatment. It does not get any better then that as it is such a rare one.

Your comment about wearing the hat in bed immediately made me think of this Stetson ad......just now found it!!!
Enjoy,

Found this stingy Bond at the thrift store. Although I rarely wear stingies any more, and this one is too big at 7 1/2, I couldn't pass it up for $5. I have an uncle who is getting into hats, last time I saw him he had a couple of woolie stingies so I'm going to turn him on to a nicer quality piece.

Don't think I've seen one with two union labels before, usually it's one on the body or one on the back of the size tag. I guess someone wanted to be sure we all knew it was union made.
Crown 5", brim just shy of 2". The felt is medium weight and of good quality. Machine creased, but I don't think my uncle will know the difference.
A good starter fur felt for someone who grew up in the stingy era.

Sweet find Moe! I think your Uncle will be very pleased and will learn to appreciate what a real hat is all about.

Nice find and great use!!! Your Uncle should love it!!!!

PS : I still wear stingy brims (nothing less than 2" brim though, or JUST under), they give a nice and tailored look when wearing a suit....
