billyspew said:My new Royal Stetson - BINed on ebay for 15 GBP - turns out it does not have a liner - but the felt is very thin and the colour light so it will be a good summer hat.
No idea about age though - anyone know anything about the shop?
epr25 said:I found this hat yesterday at Salvation Army. I am hoping to gain some more info on it (age and anything else) so I can list it properly. Also there are some spots here and there I was wondering if anyone had any advice on removing these or if that was even possible.
Here is another tip = http://www.villagehatshop.com/cleaning-straw.htmlJ.T.Marcus said:When it comes to cleaning spots from a hat, there are no guarantees that anything will work. However, I have had some success with removing spots like that, by using a little soap on a cold wet wash-cloth (white or a color similar to the straw). With your finger in the cloth, work on the spot, then rinse the cloth out with cold water, and go over the spot to remove the soap. It might just do the trick.

ScottF said:Thanks Lefty - I meant based on how ugly the pictures looked. The ugly pics really put me off bidding on his other two hats, but now I wish I would have. I think this Resistol was probably in fantastic shape, just dusty:
Portis Super-Lux and Resistol

It was a very pleasant shock that they were this nice. Size was true on both. I bid on your Portis as well, but like you was afraid to go very high(less than you) for fear of a wreck.ScottF said:Man, I'm glad that auction turned out good for you - those are both very nice. I had a feeling they would all be beaters, so I'm glad I was wrong.
Lefty said:As to the Resistol, I don't know how long that model was around, but I can say that it was around in 1948.
I echo this exactly.....:eusa_clapLefty said:I like the Resistol and I love the Portis. :eusa_clap
