Its a Strat. A 21st century edition, 150th Anniversary of Stetson, but really an exceptional hat. Moon met my desire for saying I have a Stratoliner in my collection. Stetson Excellent quality. Really soft felt, feels wonderful in hand. He said he would ship it open crown, but with his deft diamond manipulation, I could not resist. There are probably some modern Stetson features that I wont be totally in love with, but right now, I'm really impressed with the feel and quality. The liner logo could be crisper in printing, and the sweat logo is not embossed, but hey...I now have a Strat!

Found this yesterday. I was going to sell it when I saw the size, but then I tried it on and it fit. I had to have the clerk remove the anti-theft device because it was attached to the sweat. Brilliant.

This satisfies my desire for an inky blue Homburg. It's so bloody overcast here I can't get a good representation of the color. I'll try to get some outdoor shots later for the Champ thread. And a head shot.

Why can't I find this kind of thing in the wild. Need to quit slumming and go for a higher class venue. Absolutely wonderful!! Can't wait to see it all spruced up and on your noggin!!

OMG Bob, this hat is everything I imagined it was going to be. Now I'm really kicking myself for not getting down to Mike's in time to bask in it's glory! Congrats man, this is really something to behold. Love the whip stitch, for sure a want on my next hat from Mike!

Those anti-theft devices are a nightmare. It really annoys me when shops attach them to the sweatband of a hat, don't these shopkeepers think? I've also got a silk blouse, a pair of lightweight wool trousers and a pair of leather gloves all with holes from those things. I got them all at reduced prices because I showed them the damage, but they keep on using them.

That said, lovely homburg you've got there.

Thanks Bob. The ribbon brings out an oxblood cast to the brown.
The subtleties of the shades of many vintage felts are really extraordinary, and it's always interesting to see how a talented hatter or a sensitive customer can pick just the right ribbon to enhance those tints. I've been looking for some time for just this shade, which I first noticed on one of the hats sported by Hugh Laurie in the Bertie and Jeeves BBC series. Hard to find these days, though it's difficult to tell from most internet sales pages. Again, congratulations.

Thanks Bob. Originally I was searching for an acorn colored body with a coppery reddish ribbon but got distracted...
Mike at Northwest gave me some ribbon selections and the darker brownish/burgundy caught my eye.

Thanks Fed. The antique mall where I found this, which I hit every couple of months or so, always has a dealer who trades in new, cheapo woolies. I always blow right by it. This was hanging in the very next booth and I almost ignored it, too. But then I thought, "That looks interesting..."
