That is certainly a very fine Derby. I have not been drawn to the shorter crowns, how does it look on your head?

After Rodolfo's Gannon this is just embarrassing. A late '60s Adam. Oh well ... It was in my budget and I long ago learned that I can't have nice things.

I have a stingy black Adam. Would like to get a couple more. Nice quality, first name in hats! (at least in the Yellow Pages)

this is a modern Stetson New York LE excellent quality
2 5/8 brim
5 1/2 crown
Under welt
the color is called Phantom Grey but it is more of a taupe to my eye ... somewhere between grey and some sort of tannish color

The felt is very nice
The crease you see is dry and most likely temporary ... but I like it pretty well creased like this ...for the moment at least .
Nice change of pace.

The hat is softer than I expected and is constructed surprisingly well .
I'm sure it will eventually end up with a diamond crease but for now it looks like this

my expectation of modern production hats does not live wth a high bar ... but this particular piece has raised it a touch

Ridiculously warm over here for the time of the year, some 18ºC, but still I've worn my (rescued from the drawer) "hat for ship and shore" made a few years ago from a pattern in a 1961 book by Ruby Carnahan (the lady in the picture looks suspiciously like Angela Lansbury, doesn't she?). Some less that stellar stitching, my machine was misbehaving at the time, but still a cute and practical hat.

How about some seafood? I had lunch at "La Medusa" a tapas bar adjoining a fish stall at "El Ninot" food market in Barcelona:
