Tonak "Lestand", 57cm, Crown Open 5 inches, Brim 2 3/8 inches, NOS condition, probably late 1950s. The felt is of high quality (smooth finish) and dry creases easily. I think it has a very nice overall form plus a stylish bow. This one is from my May 2016 Czech find.

Just got a new Panama in the mail today from Panama Hats Direct. The ordering process is interesting with lots of option. I ordered a "Custom Designed Montecristi Fino Classic Fedora" with a black silk band and brim of 3.6-3.9". I asked for it to be rollable and they told me that they would use less stiffener and a fabric sweatband instead of a leather one. Its made in Ecuador. And they provide almost daily updates. It was woven a bit faster than I thought for a fino. I wonder if they have them pre-made to certain brim size and then just weave the final part? Once it was done in Ecuador and sent to FL the updates just stopped for a week or two. And I hot a shipper notice.

I paid for a special balsa wood gift box as well. It arrived in pieces.... or at least the box did. Part of the hat were sticking almost out of the package. I thought for sure the hat would be ruined. But it was in fine shape. The crown is a little lower than I like. They put a liner in it... Not sure if I like that as I think it would make it a hotter hat. They also put in a leather sweat band.... I might have preferred cloth. The brim was supposed to be 3.6-3.9" but its more like 3.25- 3.6". But it looks ok and I rolled it once and it came out of it pretty well. I may see how easy it is to return or maybe I will keep it. Not sure.

Here is me in the hat.

I am curious if others have gotten hats at this place and what their experience has been

This came in yesterday. My second Resistol Beaver 25. Unique to me is the liner which bears the Roger Kent store name and nothing Resistol. Only hat I've ever owned that the store name wasn't printed or stamped on the sweat. Only info I could find was that there were Roger Kent stores in Cambridge, Philadelphia, New Haven and NYC.

Been meaning to post this one for awhile but every time I started to the weather wouldn't cooperate; it was either raining or windy and frankly, this hat is as light as rice paper, feels about as delicate and scares hell out of me.

Good question, Michael. Obviously, I have an affinity for OR style hats. This will probably be my last one until I run across a vintage Stetson 25, 3X, 7XCB or 100 I can afford. :)

Next my new Bone Gannon with a rust ribbon,

Well I really cant say anything else about Gannon hats except that this are not hats are works of art, Michael really creates something very special, this hats are the best value that you can get, this hat has "vintage", "handmade with love", "quality" and "exclusive" written all over.

Beautiful...

Nice ones Chamuco! The country club is especially speaking to me, probably because it is nice and hot here now. Perfect weather for one like that.

Greg you nabbed a couple of winners too! That 25 is absolutely out of the park!
You wouldn't know it from the frequency with wich I wear my Open Road, but those short brim dress westerns are my favorite style of hat. There's just something about them that makes me think of road trips and ice cold beer in long neck bottles.

Thanks, Cuz. I feel the same way. MY maternal grandfather, who got me interested in hats always wanted one. I can remember him commenting on them every time he saw LBJ in one on TV or in a magazine. Every time I asked him why he didn't buy one he always replied "I ain't spending that much on a dadblame hat." He obviously had more sense than me.

Just a follow up. The crown was too short (although I did not specify size). The Brim was too short than what I ordered. It had a liner and leather sweatband and I wanted neither. And the box was smashed. I called, they apologize, and they are working on a replacement for everything. I need to ship that hat back and they will pay for postage. All very professional. So my next post here will be when the replacement arrives!
