Co grats on that Lee, Bama. That's a beauty. I eyeballed that one real hard (I think it's the same. ebay?) but ultimately decided that since I never wear the brown hat I have, another might not be the wisest investment.

Bob! A buck! For a vintage beaver Resistol! That's gotta be one of the best finds ever. Looks like it ought to clean up real nice, and even if it doesn't, a buck won't even buy you a soda these days.

Probably is, Dale. Don't see many of these come up in our size. Was an auction but had a good BIN price. My last brown for awhile, I think. Kinda like vintage boots, sometimes it's not the hat/boots you want but the maker.

Been there done that. [emoji14]

Besides, I ended up pulling the trigger on a gray Dobbs instead. Should be here first of the week.

This one was posted in the classifieds. Thanks, OCMH!
Certainly a case of love at first sight. 20's J.C.Penney's Marathon. Genuine Velour. Fits my 7 5/16 size noggin as though it were made for me.

This thing is in amazing shape for its age. The sweat is supple, felt is un-dined upon (at least to my eyes) and the liner is really nice. I'm torn between saving it for occasions and wearing the heck out of it. I'm sure I'll find a happy medium.:)
I should check the classifieds more often.

Looks like you made a good choice, Walter. I find the panama straw holds up much better to abuse than the shantung

I have summer hats with leather sweatbands and some with cloth like yours. not sure which I like better but probably the leather sweatbands. I sweat through the cloth ones pretty quick and stain the ribbon. Sometimes these stains can be got rid of with an application of distilled water, sometimes not.
