In all seriousness, though, Moon, can you post a better pic of the sharksgill? I'd like to get a better idea of the design, please.
Of course

From today's trip to the flea market...

Borsalino Piuma (Feather)... a souvenir from Italy that has never been unpacked, much less worn. It has the signature lumps and bumps from 65 years in a triangular coffin. Lovely and light - 2 5/8" brim.

This Stetson has no designated model name any where on the hat at all. The felt is super light weight. The edge of the brim trim is on the fairly thin side, no taper on the crown and as you can see no wear on the sweatband, this is another Gem of a hat find. It fits Daniel perfectly. The felt does have a nice vintage smooth feel, but not the buttery feel some vintage hats do have. The brim is 2 1/2 inches, the brim binding is only 1/8th inches, crown bashed 5 1/2 and not bashed 6 inches tall. Inside and out this hat was near perfect with only some slight amount of dirt from sitting under other hats not in a box for many years in a Men's Department Store. A best guess is 1960-1970 but no older. It is a keeper for sure! But the mystery of what this hat is actually called, still lingers in hopes of someone having one like it and knowing for sure.

Thanks, so far the last two hat finds have been NOS and a gem! I do wish I could find something like what Alan was lucky to get, a Borso in a Box, or even a nice Panama in a Box! The search remains as Sherlock Holmes would say, "the games afoot"! HA!

This arrived today from the bay... A while back, I tried on a Stetson Saxon while at the Garland Outlet and really liked the dimensions of this hat. There are times when I feel a bit stingy and want something a little more subdued than my larger crowned, bigger brimmed hats. This one is just about right for me and about as small as I can now tolerate.

One thing though, I now understand all the complaints about the modern Stetson felt. After steaming and flattening the brim some, the "spider webbing" that some of you have mentioned really took over the brim. I had to really work it out and be gentle. If I had paid full price, I'd have been very disappointed. But this was a great Ebay deal.

The color is called bark. It's probably my favorite color (for now) for a hat. I could kick myself for not getting the tawny color in my Fed IV instead of the dark brown. I like more contrast between felt and ribbon. Maybe I can negotiate a trade later on.

Anyhow, this hat will serve my stingy needs when called into action.

I've got the same hat, same vintage and no model name except yours is pristine and mine shows a lifetime of abuse. Kind of Stratoliner-ish, perhaps a little tall in the crown but ballpark. Hope we can find out what it is! I was wondering if this was a Missouri hat (circa 70's) from the time in between the Philly factory closing and the modern Hatco of Garland produced Stetsons.

Just got my Moonstone and Tawny Fawn Fed IV from The Hattery. . Beautiful hats and great customer care.

I did a 2 minute crease in order to wear the moonstone one
