Like many of you here, I buy hats from sources other than ebay. I found this auction lot the other day and asked the auctioneer about the 'Stetson' hats. The one in the middle is a NM-MT 7 1/2 Wormser. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or patience to dispose of all the other garbage in such lots :) (there was a good deal more stuff than what is shown in this photo)

I like the wooden clogs.

Those clogs are a mystery. All of this stuff was part of Eddie Feigner's personal collection - he was 'The King' of 'The King and his Court' softball team. I ended up with 5 signed gloves, but missed out on the hats. If I had thought to ask what size the clogs were, I might have bid higher :)

On the west side of the state today. It's so nice to go thru some new (to me) antique malls. First time I've run across one of these stretchers. Hats are an old Howard, interesting ribbon Mallory, and a Lee. Guess I'll be cleaning some hats tomorrow.

Here's the hat I snagged from the bay for $30, including shipping. It's a dark green stingy brim; the crown is 5", the black band is 2 1/4", and the brim is 2" on the sides, 1 3/4" front and back. Edging is a thin ribbon.

It's marked as a 7 3/8, and it fits like a dream. The felt is dense and soft at the same time. The crown and brim need a cleaning and a brushing, and they could probably do with reblocking and ironing--none of which I've done before. I'm excited to try, though! I have a modern production Stetson that I'll try with first.

Based on the price tag and an ad I found on line, I'm guessing this hat is from the late 50s through late 60s. Thoughts?

What do you think?

Best,
Aaron
