Maybe you should do it through a German stockist of Aero? At least then you'd know what the total price is.

That's what the customer service person at Aero suggested! The jacket I was looking at was on the sales page -- nice deal and a lot less that what the German stockists charge, which is usually over a €1000. We'll see how it goes.

So VAT is included in the price? I was trying to find that out but they just said that the price is their worldwide price.
I would assume the EU and Brits are still negotiating a free trade agreement but who knows how long it will take ...

I'm in Germany and was considering an Aero Leather purchase. Does anyone know what I might have to pay in import duties on a €600-€700 price? Kicking myself for not getting the jacket last year ...

I'm not sure whether or not duties (4%) need to be payed. The jackets I've imported so far had a declared value of €150 or less, which is as I believe below the import duty threshold.

I see. Because it didn't reach the duty threshold anyway so you are also not sure if the rules of origin apply.

If I understand well from the sites of the postal service and the tax service:
Up to 22e (product + shipping costs) you pay neither VAT nor Import duty.
Between 22e and 150e you pay VAT (21%) plus handling costs.
Above 150e you pay VAT, Handling costs and Import Duty. You have to check how high the import duty is, for clothes it is 0-12%.
Last time I paid an Import Duty it was 4% if I remember well, for a nylon flight jacket out the US.

Thanks Harris, I also found this explanation on the belastingen wesbite. My question would be whether "Rules of Origin" actually appied to Dutch custom, and will a jacket fully made in UK (like Lewis) will be applicable to this rule.

I think it seems that the UK is considered a standard non-EU country so probably the import duty is applicable.
By the way I checked the Lewis Leathers site. It gives a different price for buying from the UK than buying from the EU. What I don't get is that for a 900bp jacket (UK price), when you order from the NL you have to pay 775bp. I'd expect that if the british VAT is subtracted (20%), you'd have to pay 750bp.

Another clothing order from Germany through today & things ran smoothly (under the import duty threshold), price I ended up paying was same as last year. Have purchased the odd T shirt too at under 22e but paid VAT in country of origin, these were very small outlets.

I bought a leather jacket.

I payed £620 for the jacket, shipping with DHL £20.

Total customs/handling fees were €177,29 in Germany.

Bought a lot before the Brexit, now there is not so much difference from ordering from Japan or the US.

A Lightening 391 in vege cow delivered in UK costs 1385GBP, while delivered to the Netherlands costs 1170 GBP. Price includes shipping cost. Quick math gives you a tax deduction at 16%, compared to 14% in your example. So I don't really understand their calculation basis...

Yes, probably they subtract 20% VAT, add 15-20 pounds of shipping and round up.
If you have to pay (21+4)% * 1170 + handlings fees (around 10-15 euros) then you end up around 1475 pounds. If I were you I'd wait for the corona outbreak to calm a bit out and then arrange a weekend to London. Or buy the jacket through a friend in the UK.
