Great hat! I like the bold choice for a ribbon color too. Rick makes great hats and this will last you a lifetime.

Interesting that Winchester’s Granite covers so many variations. I wonder if the dress weight felts are dyed differently or if the felt accepts the dye differently. Your variation of gray w/o any brown is a winner.

I have a dress weight beaver Granite with definite brown undertones. I also have a western weight granite beaver and it is much more a true mid grey and a nicer colour in my opinion.

I only have a dress weight and it also has brown tones. I should have a second dress weight in granite once Winchester gets back from their summer break; either of the color variants will be fine with me.
I had a swatch that looked totally grey but the dress fedora came out with the damn brown tones....I wanted grey and was sorely disappointed. Nice hat, just not the one I expected. I bought the western weight from a western custom house, it was a premade show sample and it was the colour I originally wanted and a super price. So now I have the colour I wanted just not the style.

The ribbon really stands off that one. Very nice!

I'm following up from a post a few days ago with pictures of my new Phoenix granite beaver hat. Rick builds a fine hat - I am so pleased with all three he has taken the time to make for me!

The hat arrived very well packaged, with a nice hat box inside a heavier corrugated cardboard box. The workmanship is fantastic - soft hand, even finish, and an excellent job on the ribbon, sweatband, and liner. The dimensions and profile are just what I had asked for. The felt is a western body due to the size, so it is a little stiff, but Rick knows I prefer a stiffer hat that will hold its shape.

The color of the felt is pure gray, no brown at all as I have seen in some Winchester granite felts. I would describe it as a medium charcoal in most light, although it can also look very light gray in certain light. The ribbon shows more purple in the photos than it appears in most light; it is a faded "rose wine" color most of the time.

I think a previous photo posted by @Just A Hat Rack shows the true color pretty well:

Thanks, Rick, for another great hat!

I hope you all enjoy a peaceful Sunday,
Regan

Call me biased, but that's a sharp looking hat you got there Regan. I like the dimensions you chose for it. Rick does fine work. He always says he doesn't have the machine tools that the big boys do, but he produces a nice soft hand. My version was a dress weight, and like yours, the granite has no brown hues. I couldn't be happier with how the color turned out. I wonder if your ribbon color is the same as mine? In any case, congrats on your new addition. You wear it well.

Thanks for the kind words, friends, but all the credit belongs to Rick. I just tell him whose ideas I want to steal, and he commits the deed. ;) I would have been happy with some brown tone, but really like this shade too.

Thanks to all of you who take the time to share your fine hats. I don't post here as often as I once did, but do thorooughly enjoy seeing everyones' hats and other posts.

y'all take care,
Regan

Always happy to play the role of accomplice Regan. They'll probably get us eventually for theft of intellectual property. Hah!

Haha! With my low intellect, they'll find it hard to prove that I took anything. But you, my friend, may need a good lawyer! :D It's obvious that you're a pretty sharp, multi-talented fellow.
