This is a Penman I got from Doug (aka @Tukwila) in 2017. I just got it back from John Penman. I had him swap out the matching dark moss ribbon for a vintage copper ribbon with accent.

I seem to recall that there were some sizing issues with the Penman Everyman hats when they were first released. Can anyone comment on how these hats currently fit and what the quality is like? I’m looking at the non-Indy hat in granite. Thanks.

I bought my non indy Everyman in granite diamond crease when first released. I sent John my head size and the hat he sent fits like a glove.( And still does) Out of all my hats it's my favourite.

I would always suggest giving an accurate head measurements to whom ever you but from and let them size you up.

I also sent some vintage 30's silk rayon ribbon to John along with a portugal beaver body from Fepsa for a refurb. Wanted a Henry Gondorff hat and this is how it turned out:

This is a recent eBay find. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as large as the seller “measured” it and it will be moving on. It’s a nice hat with a mid-weight felt that I really like. The hand is soft and the hat is right in the sweet spot between being firm and being floppy.

What do these hat sizes mean? I'm familiar with traditional hat sizes and with cm-marked hats. Are they in inches?

Yes, if you go to a hat sizing chart in Google it will show the conversion to cm or 7 3/8" etc etc etc
