Greetings all.
How about a thread where we could pass hats about?
You know, say you have a hat or two just lounging about the place unemployed, desperate to go to the dance but no one to take it. Lol
Pity the poor hat so...pass it on to a friend.
Maybe the friend will enjoy it’s company then send it merrily on to another. Who knows maybe it will return some day for another go??
How about shipping be the ONLY cost to play?

ONE RULE.....please don’t ruin it and be a real t**d and sell it!!!
So..how bout it? Anybody want to play?
Be well and safe.
Bowen

Ok, I'm in if anyone wants this Knox Fox Hound. Some staining on the liner but felt is sound. Box too if you want it, size 7.

Heathered long hair, mostly brown.
Whoa Jared that was fast.
I’m still looking around.
You are a Charter Member and a fine Hat Passer!!

Cool idea!
We tried this back in 2010....someone did not do what they should have.

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/traveling-hat.48136/

It was really fun while it lasted. To bad photos have disappeared.
Oh...i forgot to say.
One more rule...MY Rule.
Warning!!!
If miscreants and ne’er-do-wells invade, they will be assigned visually and verbally to the “Wall of Shame” where we all can appreciate them for their deeds. So don’t.

Greetings All:
I thought i’d give this thread a few days to gage interest, hoping it would be a self-perpetuating. (No gatekeepers Brent, no vetters...lol). Maybe so, maybe no.
Nevertheless, i was trying to think of a pass hat then just spun the rack. This one caught my eye as a mystery.
I said that’s the one no matter what it is.
Turns out as a vintage Dobbs Westward. 71/8, ORish, would be about perfect except for a moth nibble.
So..if any care to wear...let me know.
Be well and safe.
Bowen
Ps: gotta be more hat passers out there.

Well, the Dobbs Westward arrived and has been welcomed to a new home. Very many thanks to Bowen for the idea of starting this thread, for the generosity, and the effort involved. One kind act deserves another. I have pretty much decided which hat I will throw into the ring, but I will be out of town for two weeks and will post it upon my return. Hats off to Bowen!

You just need to raise your limit!
As much as I would like to I need to keep things in check. I have hats in three rooms (four if you count a walk-in closet inside the master bedroom) and hat care supplies in another. I thought I was under my limit until I remembered a few hats in boxes, and found another hanging from a clothes rack, and another on a jack used as a block...

I need to draw a line somewhere so (50) felts is what I'm committing to. Thanks to this forum and *cough* Bowen *cough* I've accumulated quite a few leather jackets too. ;)

OK, so here we go as promised. First up a Borsalino black beauty:

Specs:
5-1/4" Crown (open)
2-3/8" Brim
1-1/4" Ribbon
103g Weight
Size is Punti 5, so 7-1/8. Fortuitous eBay find under a misspelled listing. If it fit I would keep it, but it doesn't so it has sat idle for far too long. Wonderful thin felt with an intricate edge stitching. This one hurts a little to let go but it deserves to be worn.

Just pay shipping. Typically I use USPS Priority Mail, so figure about $15-25 depending on size of the box.

And now the beast, a bit of a workhorse Dobbs:

2-1/4" Brim
3/16" Binding (symmetric)
2" Ribbon

I purchased this to be a foul weather hat. It was advertised as 7-3/8 but upon receiving it I discovered it's a 7-3/8 long oval. As such it fits too loose to serve its purpose, and I have since acquired an Akubra to be my primary rain hat. Disregard the 4-1/8 crown depth on the factory tag. I measured multiple times and I get 5-1/4. (Dad insisted on measuring three times! ;))

There is some shallow mothing throughout but due to the darker color it is rather inconspicuous. To me it appears a dark brown, but in certain lighting it appears more grey. The liner is pretty well worn but I left as is since it was meant to be a beater. Adds to the character in my opinion, but if you don't want it take it out.

Still plenty of life left in this hat and can serve a better purpose than sitting idle collecting dust.
