Cool Biltmore panama I recently picked up.

You can see where the previous owner did some repair work with a bead of silicone. Seems to work great!

Not sure what this means, It was half hidden under the sweat.

Personalized. Just for me! A quick google search came up with a very cool retail store in Mesilla NM

I like that one of yours very very much. Reminds me of this Biltmore panama I picked up a little while back in a somewhat different color. I’ve pretty much quit it with feathers, but retain them on a few hats where I think they work well.

Again, super turn of the last century straw, Alan. The long name pad in the liner looks a lot like my English find. One of the reasons why I think mine, like yours, is more early 1900s than 1920s. Your ribbon and bow, though, is much more American funky than my staid English [emoji4].

Bought this vintage Stevens south American panama online, no size tag but tape measurements showed it close to my size. It appeared near mint so I took a chance. Unfortunately it was about a centimeter too small and very tight. I was about to resell it but decided to nudge it up on the stretcher. Took 3 days of light steaming and nudging. Worked well and now fits perfectly.

That one was definitely worth persevering with. Nice find.

Thanks, yes I hate trying to stretch hats because the brims tend to go all "Wonky" when I do it. Did this one very slowly over several days of steaming and nudging with the stretcher with no visible ill after affects. Whew....I was worried. ;)

My most favorite example of a montecristi blocked in the natural (optimo) style. Age (or a camel?) has broken a straw of the hat's back, but its spirit remains unbroken. Kinda like me. This hat came to me some years back from an esteemed lounge member.

Another great one, Alan!

It's age, longevity, and slight flaws are all part of its attraction and testament to its beauty.

The icing on the cake is the photo of the shop it came from.

Thanks for sharing.
