We're going to have to form a support club. Between Stefan and Brent, I think they broker half the hats sold in the world!

THANKS to both of you!!!

Thanks, Ken. It was actually bought with someone specific in mind and it's already on its way to him. They only had the one there, but you never know.

Sorry Ken, but I'm the rascal it was bought for.
Thank you Stefan for going back and out of your way to pick it up for me.

That's an interesting hat, Alan. The first pic had me looking for the vents and shrugging at the macrame hat band. Well done.

Thanks Greg... it was in rough condition when I got it - was surprised to find the open work when I removed the pug. It is pretty much hidden behind the sweatband on the inside. Don't wear it much, but it's a good morning choice when thunderstorms are likely to surprise later in the day.

Most excellent Leghorn straw Alan!
I always like seeing it.
May i ask how you dated it to 1938-41?
There’s so few around and so little info.
Thanks. Bowen

Thank you Bowen. I'm pretty confident on the later side of the estimate. The gold printed size label and LOT7740 imprint behind the sweatband both support a narrow pre-war window. From my and other's eBay gleanings over the years, the LOTXXXX number and the gold size tags both disappear about the time we entered WWII. If I had to pick a single year, I would say c.1940. But 1938 and 1939 are so sexy I just decided to throw them in. ;^).

Alan: had to laugh at “so sexy i just had to throw them in”!
Thanks for the info. I wondered about Lot #s or maybe a date stamp(rare) etc.
I guess i need to summons the courage, and a mirror and look behind the sweat of mine. In case you’re curious what they cost back then they were $51 as per a factory card pictured. Quite a sum for the day!
Thanks. Bowen

That's a beauty and not much more recent - mid 1940s I would guess. The factory card is wholesale/dozen of course. Are there pictures of the form of the hat somewhere?

Not sure if i’ve posted it before. I usually don’t post hats that don’t fit but i’ll try and take some pics. Had to go sit with Willow so will have to do it later.
Thanks. Bowen
