Palladium French Military Canvas Boots

Palladium makes a really cool canvas boot that apparently were used at some point by the French military. They are a cross between a combat boot and a vintage canvas sneaker... I'm not talking about Palladium's 6 eyelet "sand" shoe though, the one I like is tall and the top folds over on itself to wear a bit shorter. Anyway, I'd like to get a pair and was wondering if anyone here has any - and can comment on the sizing as they seem to only come in eur whole sizes. Also, perhaps someone knows of a place to find them ? Ebay basically only has women's sizes...or a lack of color choice.

Palladiums

I remember buying a pair in the 80s and they were very conmfortable. I think the Israelis used something like them too. Recently I thrifted a NOS classy shoe style version from some Italian company for AUD10 that I can't wait to wear with some big khaki shorts - like you used to get at Gowings menswear in Sydney and similar to the stuff on the Safari thread.

Remember that they are EURO so they will be a good fit... roomy I mean. If you take.. say.. 10.5 you will need like 44 EURO. Don't worry about that whole sizes thing - that is a USA thing. Euro will fit good..IMHO

Try www.palladiumboots.com. They have 142 style and color combinations for men, and 92 for women. You can also get them through Orvis, but only a couple selections. Might as well order directly from the company, since the Pampa Hi in canvas only runs $55.

I wear these boots at least once a week. I've never pulled the trigger on a leather pair, though, but have been considering it for some time. I keep getting lured away by sales at the Clark's and Bass outlets nearby!

I love my Palladiums, they are fantastic boots. I have the Baggy in black. I also have some of their white soled shoes i use for sailing, and which they're brilliant for.

owned several pairs over the years. there are still some style of canvas boot made in France. the manufactures back in the day were wissart, palladium and pataugas. pataugas are still made in France, pricey but worth it quality wise. better made than palladium brand IMHO

Thanks for tipping these. Nice summer boots.

Funny detail, if French was occupied during war and company says they produced rubber stuff during war. Guess who used them :D

Any idea who might carry them in the States? I've looked, but no luck so far. I like my Palladiums, but they're a bit too lightweight for some things. I'd like something a little more rugged, but not as heavy as a full on hiking boot.

Mojave - you can order them direct from Palladium (http://www.palladiumboots.com/shop/us-men/us-men-footwear.html). Zappos (http://www.zappos.com/palladium-mens-shoes~1) also carries them. Have a look at the leather ones. They might be just what you need.

For anyone who used to get their Palladium boots from Orvis, know that there are some minor changes to the new canvas ones...these are definitely changes for the better too. There is now a heel counter so the canvas doesn't collapse. They've also changed the insole to one with a bit more cushioning and arch support. Unlike the ones sold through Orvis which were a size smaller than marked, if you order from Palladium or Zappos simply use your regular shoe size since the new boots are correctly sized.
