Our clothing and the 'Selfie'

I have noticed a few pics here of ourselves taken on mobile phones in what is generally known as the selfie mode. Quite a few of these pics show the photograph where the model poses in front of a mirror and also the usual arm held out pose.
Nothing wrong with any of that. But with all these modern phones and taking pictures in the safety of our homes I would have thought placing the 'camera' on a surface and setting it on self timer(10 secs?) and reversing so we can view our pose would make a much better pic, rather than have a mirror shot with the phone excluding some of the image, as it is the jacket/shoes/ hat etc we wish to photograph, rather than our phones or arms with no hands.
Or even bring into use the 'highly embarrassing' selfie stick.
Just a few more thoughts :)

The only selfies I enjoy are ones taken by porn actresses during their off hours. However, I can't post those here.

Did you ever see the selfie someone posted on Style Forum to show off his new suit, tie, etc? He took it in the washroom at his office and didn't notice that someone was in a washroom stall behind him - the man's feet where showing below the door!

I received one of those selfie sticks last year for Christmas as kind of a joke from the sister...

"Now you can take those jacket photos without asking everyone to repeatedly hold the phone"...something like that. Never used it.

The best thing is when you can barely see anything but the colour of the jacket, shirt and tie, maybe some shoes but then you get all the names of the expensive brands listed just under the picture. It makes no sense to me, ask someone to take a picture and let people see the fit of that pricey suit.

There's one user I really enjoy watching there on the WAYWT threads and his name is Roycru, I love his style and he always ask someone to take pictures of him and he always poses outdoors in the real world. He always comment on this fact too, why people don't ask other people to take a picture of them. He also adds stories about the environment where the picture was taken and what he was doing at that place.

It doesn't take more than 2 minutes and it looks better and the other users can actually see something.

I haven't worked out how to use the self timer yet!!! But you're right, it would produce a much better photo. New jacket arriving soon, I'll try & suss it :)

I like to think I invented the 'selfie stick' about 30 years ago. I would use a cumbersome old fashioned tripod with the legs closed and stick a small 110 camera on it then hold it at arms length to take a pic of myself with girls etc or of special places. Surprisingly, I took a reasonable photo once in a while.
Then I bought a mono pod, a lot easier to handle, which looks vaguely like a selfie stick :)
Quite a lot of my photo's of me in 'action' shots with jackets and hats are taken with the phone camera hanging off a tree branch or placed on a wall, dustbin, anything really.
