The Ermine's s hand is wonderful. The felt doesn't bounce back when you touch it, the impression of your finger just sort of stays there.
The Vicuña doesn't have the Ermine's awesome malleability, but the feel to the touch is uncommon. Your eyebrows raise in wonder when you touch it. I haven't felt that in any other hat.

I didn't know Dunlap made 100s. It's a 7 3/8, too.

Hey Bob... been meaning to reply for a awhile now... sorry for the 6-mos. delay, lol... I did win this beauty... an absolutely gorgeous hat, though I didn't realize it might be from the 30's... my hat-dating skills are in their infancy... anyway, it cleaned up very nicely via white gas method, and I wanted to share some other pics. I've never seen the ribbon-in-the -sweatband before, and I think it's just cool as hell, an aspect of artistry that sadly has disappeared.

Postscript- so, upon closer study, the ribbon looks like its separate from the little bow... I had been thinking the whole thing was connected; two pieces of ribbon threaded from either side and finished at the center by tying into the bow... but it doesn't look that way upon closer study... bummer... but still, looks really cool... just an extra detail for the owner to appreciate... sorry it fell out of favor... this is one of my most prized hats...

Beautiful!! The ol' ribbon-in-the-sweatband again!! I'm gonna post another pic of the inside sweat of the Mallory I've got... its just a really cool feature...

While I was "out and about" on Saturday I found this box in the wild.....

Inside was this absolutely pristine mid-50's Brooks Brothers fedora.....

Aaaaaaaaand......it WAS in my size!!!!!!

A nice shipment today from a couple different sales:

Brown Flagship
Light blue Vogue (smaller brim than my other green model)
40s Imperial light brown long hair fedora
30s brown Royal Stetson homburg

These will take a bit of cleaning up. I'm worried about the 40s sweatbands, they are from the era of rapid leather disintegration and are already showing some folds. It would be a shame to lose them. I still have to move out a whole pile of hats, but these definitely stay in the permanent collection.
