I’ve seen this liner before but I don’t think I’ve owned one before. Was there t made by Stetson or was it made after they sold the rights to their name?

Another shot in the dark. All of know about this Anton Pichler is that it is a “large” size. Some pretty bad photos, but the seller was a great guy to work with.

Nothing terribly special about this Royal Stetson except that it appears to be unworn and I believe from the 50’s. A nice pick up.

Well that in itself makes it fairly special. Look like it has that rolled welt edge creating a sort of “poor man’s” Cavanagh edge. Nice find.

There’s a lot to like in a classic well-executed simple fedora.

Yes, that makes sense. It could be riding hat/helmet where the cork is used as padding.

That’s what I thought too. The un-reeded sweatband stitching is failing in places, but the seller said the leather itself is in good shape. Now to find someone willing to re-sew the sweatband using the existing holes in the leather…that’s not a fun job or cheap job.

Yes, down to $18 + $12 ship. It looks very old but it appears the sweatband is missing so I don’t want to mess with it.

A riding hat makes sense to me. I found another one referenced in 2015:
