A great one Michael! Never heard of the name Humming Bird in hats. I suspect it might be older but it reminds me of my Carlsbad which dates 1940 - 1943. I will be interested in hearing your impressions on the felt. My Carlsbad is almost too soft for it's size.

I think not. The dimensions look like an owner adjustment, as does the removal of the shellac coating on the reed channel, which likely accounts for the puckering of the sweatband where it meets the crown.
