OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I have this "western wear" hat band incoming. Guessing that it is a '50s/'60s era thing. The "conchos" have western motifs and brands. It's from a long-time Detroit department store (1909 - 1962). Only $2.00 to win it so I'm sure I'll get that much fun out it at least.

This hat intrigues me almost enough to spend the $39 to get to hold it. It’s listed as a size 58, so I’m going to pass.

Maybe comrade Steve @mayserwegener can can tell us something about it.
German made hat by the VEB Luckenwalde Hutfabrik. It's their trademark (or one of them) on the sweatband. Some of their hats are quite good, but others, erm... not so much.

7-UP & BBQ?

7 UP: Brand first recorded by J.P. Byrnes of Paradise Valley, Nevada in 1902, then in 1916 by Gideon Forgnone and Steve Boggio. Currently a Boggio brand. Was thought to be (one of several things that were) the basis for the "7-Up" soda name brand.

Two Pole Pumpkin: From 1912 newspaper in Sierra County, New Mexico.

Bar B Q: "Ranches with that brand and that name did, and still do, exist. B. H. “Barbecue” Campbell was most famous for running the enormous XIT Ranch near Dalhart from 1885 to 1887. The ranch he had prior to his work in Texas was in Kansas. It was named the Bar-BQ ranch which is where he got his nickname. There isn’t a brand currently registered in Texas that I could find, but our neighbor in Arizona list one active registration for the brand."

MacLachlan Beaver Twenty. Pics are blurry, but it's a Mac.
Seller says the sweatband is stamped "Beaver Twenty Harness Horse Hat Co Danbury Conn", and a paper tag reading "You are wearing the Air-Vac MacLachlan feature".
I have another Harness Horse hat, but it doesn't have the MacLachlan liner. View attachment 258095 View attachment 258096 View attachment 258097 View attachment 258098 View attachment 258099 View attachment 258100 View attachment 258101

Very nice indeed Max.
Now if you could find a Hoyt Louis Cobb hat. Might be easier to find a Stetson Ermine.

Good get, Max. I keep an eye out, but those Mac Lachlans are few and far between.
