OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

For those playing the Guess the Mystery $6 hat...we were all wrong except for those being facetious. Dobbs was the leading guess.

No moth damage and no stains. 2 3/8” felted edge brim. 5 1/4” open crown. The disappointing, but not surprising, part is the size: 6 7/8. :(

The liner and sweat are marked Rogers Peet. The felt is quite wonderful.

And Under the sweat the mystery is revealed:

Not a 100, but it is a Mac Lachlan! Anyone interested?

Man... that sure is a nice hat... and to think... you got it for less than half of its original selling price!

Rogers Peet was a high end clothing store dating from 1874 (?) and the Rogers Peet Bldg in NY from 1863 (?). I assumed the hat was made for them by someone else but never imagined MacLachlan. It does indeed look like the 100 to me... ;)

I bought a Rogers Peet cashmere jacket from @tweedydon here on the FL and had it sent to Jonathan Cordova to be made into my very first cap.

Great looking, Doug.

Yes, Brent's hat is definitely a Mac 100. No doubt.

Is that 6-7/8 UK size of 6-7/8 US size?

Our reputation has gone to the dogs and all because of a six dollar hat!;)
