Two new hats on the way. I'm pretty certain these are both of Canadian manufacture, most likely at the old Wolthausen hat company purchased by Stetson at the end of the 1930's if memory serves.

Hey JW:
I look forward to your thoughts on these two hats when in-hand. It seems these vintage Canadian Stetsons are turning up more often and have had great reviews.
My opinion continues to rise with each new one.
These two look outstanding.

Thanks Bowen, I will definitely post a comprehensive review when they arrive. I’m pretty sure those size tags have the black and gold and the OR is from a Canadian store. I have been working 80 hour weeks for the past while so haven’t been very active here. Looking forward to a week off to do lots of hatting.

This was on my list for over a year. I was becoming skeptical of their existence. [emoji1]

Just lost this one on Goodwill. The buyer wanted it badly. The possible provenance didn't really matter to me that much.

I’m glad you didn’t win it, Max. As just a hat, there’s no way it’s worth $2,000!

I'm with Brent on this one. $2000 for a hat is just not realistic. I believe my Knox 25 was listed as being made for Harry Truman. I think I paid about 2% of this price for it!

Really? Was it marked "made for Harry Truman" on the sweatband? Or are you kidding?

Not kidding. It was listed as "Harry Truman hat" I believe (Brent may be able to conjure up the original listing), but no trace of it anywhere to be found. And I'm pretty sure Truman's initials weren't CAA (which are on the sweat). Wonder why they listed it that way. Maybe the hat reminded them of Harry.

They listed the Mac as a Harry Truman hat because the sweat is stamped for him. I don’t doubt at all that this was one of his hats, it seems he gave quite a few away.

I wondered if there were lots of Truman hats made with just the sweat stamp, as commemorative items; but I doubt that now. While I think he certainly had more than a few and definitely gave them away, I don’t think these are gimmicks.

The one I saw a few weeks ago said, "Made exclusively for Harry Truman" which does not mean that he actually owned it, it was just "made" for him. I've lost track, but the one that was posted a few weeks ago did not receive any bids at all.

Where did you see it? What brand of hat was it?
