Huh- I saw him on Jimmy Kimmel just last night. He seems pretty happy and well-adjusted. It would appear that he enjoys it; he does it on his radio show regularly, and if callers can stump him, they win something. Apparently he went up against Google search in a contest to answer 20 questions, and it took him 12 minutes. The guy using Google needed 20. It doesn't seem to have the same effect on him that it does on the woman in the article.
In answer to your question, though, I don't know if I would want the ability for myself. I think having to trot out "the parlor trick" at parties would bother me. I think the way people treat you when you are able to do something like this is probably worse that the ability itself. Being a side show would get a little tiresome after a while.
