I think the original poster was a customer of Hatwrks. An they posted on their Facebook page about it. I am glad this will be a wide release. These hats will not be available till next year. Is that right Jeff? Hopefully they will be successful for Hatco. Did you guys finally get your sample hats Jeff? Do they look great?

Not sure when the hats can be ordered. I've been told that the Strat can be ordered now. not sure on the other ones. I have not seen samples as of yet but really want to. If we are going to bring a line in we like to see the hats. The Stetsonian looks cool. We get a lot of call for a "Johnny Depp" hat and this may fill the void. Now as for the summer line there are some new hats coming. Soft is the word for Stetson straw next year. Also there will be a Open Road in genuine Panama next year. I am not talking out of school since the catalogs are out and our order needs to be in soon. I'll keep you guys in the loop as best I can.

Thanks Jeff for the update. A real Panama Open Road would be cool. If they go soft on summer hats maybe they will get away from plastic and shantung paper hats. My Plastic Strat in the current line is my go to for when there is a chance of rain hat. It can take a down pour and dry out and keep going.:)
The Strat on our guys website is still the old model right?
Is the price for the new model the same?

The last couple of years Meyer the Hatter has carried a Panama Open Road that has a tan ribbon. I have two of them and like them very much. One had the issue of the ribbon being tacked on too high but they are still nice hats and much better than the Shantung Open Road. I guess they must have been a special order for Meyer the Hatter because I did not see anyone else carrying them. They would be a nice addition to Stetson's regular line of hats.

Well we members here at the Fedora Lounge have asked for it and Stetson has listened. Stetson now has Open Crown Stratoliners and Stetsonians based on the classic dimensions and blocks. DelMonico Hatter has received a sample to evaluate and we are pleased with the quality and moldability of these new fedoras. We will be placing an order with Stetson on Friday October 11th and the hats should come in, in 4 to 6 weeks later. The Stratoliner comes in Tawny, Mink and Black and the Stetsonian in Tawny. The price for the Stratoliner will be $225.00 and the Stetsonian $235.00. The Stratoliner has a 5 ½ inch crown and 2 1/2inch bound edge brim and a TAR hat band. The Stetsonian has a 6 inch crown and 2 3/4 inch bound edge brim and a 19 line hat band for the WAR lovers out there.

Now as a special for Lounge members until we call in our order on Friday October 11, 2013 5:00 PM Eastern Time we will be offering the hats for $205.00 and $215.00 respectively. Are you still on the fence? As posted in an earlier post Stetson has as $10.00 coupon for the Holidays that brings the cost down to $195.00 and $205.00. Oh and did I tell you that shipping is included? So call us up at 203-787-4086 or toll free at 1-866-470-HATS (4287) and tell us that you are a Fedora Lounge member and get the deal of the season.

Stratoliner from Matt Dekard's Pictures I'll post some of the sample we have tomorrow

And the Stetsonian I don't have sample just the pictures that Matt sent me

Not quite as nice as the older hats(I think the older hats have age on there side) but nicer then we are used to seeing. They are like the Akubra Campdraft with a nicer finish. I have noticed over the past year that even the regular Stetsons have been feeling softer. I asked Matt if it was in my head and he said no they are working of softening up there hats. This is even true for the summer straw line that I was shown a few weeks ago.

Hi

On a good note, I like the way that Stetsonian looks. Unfortunately, it pretty much matches what I just received from Art a couple of weeks back. It's good to see that they're working with their customers to get hats we want.

I'd be very interested in seeing pictures of the Panama OR - I am in the market for something exactly like that. Hope they come large enough, i.e. 7-3/4.

I like the looks of the open-crown offerings, but am currently well-stocked in felts in exactly those colors....

The Stetsonian looks great. That is the first of their modern hats that I have seen that looks like a hat from the Stetson of old.

I have a gut feeling that someone who has knowledge of the Golden Era must be helping them these days ;)

I like the Stetsonian. Now, take that block, narrow the brim to about 2 3/8", remove the edge binding, put on at least a 22-linge ribbon and Dobbs liner, and you've got a winner!

Jeff, here's my question. Can you tell me a bit more about the felt on the Stetsonian and Strat. For years now, Stetson/Hatco has overused the amount of shellac in dress felts. Classically there has been "spidering" when the felt is creased dry. Does this still exist or is the felt smooth when creased dry? Also, I'm not so much concerned about the "softness" as I am about color saturation. Modern dyes for any manufacture are not even close to being as good as they used to be. Is the color a nice solid hue or is there light areas from over-sanding, lack of dye saturation, etc?
