on the search for the perfect fedora

I was wondering if it is possible that you guys at the fedora lounge could help me find a fedora with a teardrop crown, a big pinch, a meduim wide band and 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 inch brim in mid -dark grey in a 7 or 7 1/8. If it is not against the lounges rules I will pay up to $200-300 on paypal if you have a hat like this. If you do and its ok please list a picture. Thanks so much for your help.

If you want a vintage one you should try ebay or make this post in the classifieds. Since you are willing to pay up to $300 for one, why don't you contact Art Fawcett who you will see referenced to here on other threads, he can make you a custom fedora exactly to your specs from 100% beaver fur felt. I believe he is charging around $275.

so many hatters, Art looks like a great hatter

I've been contacted by Optimo and gladhatter references to adventurebilt and art now. Infact when I contacted Optimo I thouht Art was working there and I put Arts name in quotes in the dear letter becuase I have heard nothing but good things about Art and Optimo. I might just give Art a call but have not left out the other options
Art sounds like a pretty "hep cat" But does not have a internet site should I just leave him a call or post him through the lounge

Thank you Sharpetoys for the number but he actually contacted me. Art and I talked. He can make the hat I want but He is checking the color which is a mid-dark grey I guess you could call it a bankers grey. He has characol but he's checking the color I want. He should call me back today or tommorrow. I new he made great hats but when I talked on the phone I could tell he was a genuinely good person too who really intends to help the customer, that I really like. I think their Is kind of a steriotype "good of course" of a custom or fine hatter that I have found. When I went to Paul hats in SF and the manager of hats plus in chicago and maybe Art too but I don't know him well enough, It seems that many people who do this custom consider it an art" I DO TOO". They seem to be some what shy and speak in a soft subtle voice that is suthing to the ear. They take great pride in a life in which they have kept a lost art to still surface among the last nostalgic images of american society. To still do something by hand when every thing else is done by assembly lines when outsourced minium waged workers do a job with half the quality in order to provide half the cost These hatters mold a sculpture in which one can wear, In which craftsman ship, love of a proffesion and satisfing the individual needs of of a customer matter far more than the price of survying the broad masses in order to manufacture, produce, market, and distribute a product soley based on capital. People Like Art and Paul take me back too I time in which I haven't lived but when I look at a picure of a urban new york in the 30's I can see myself walking among them.
