Old Vanson Horsehide Pics ? Black Model J in Question

I know there wasn't many of these produced or for a long period of time, but Im hoping some loungers might have a black HH Vanson in their closet. I'm trying to compare with this mystery NOS Model J I just picked up. Doesn't feel anything like any vintage or new vanson Ive come across. It's very board stiff / stand up on its own, but not massively thick like old school comp weight. Also has much more shine / grain than comp. Pics will follow when I get a chance

I had a HH Model A briedly. I didn't care for it much though. It had tons of character and grain. It wasn't particularly thick (bordering thin) but would stand up on its own. It did have lots of shine too. It was the overall construction that was the issue. Some panels were good but others were very thin. I'll see if I can dig up a pic.

Thanks. Confirms mine isn’t. Kim at Vanson also ran my serial # and found it was from 2011. Some nice comp weight hides then.

This CW can't be beat, by anything. Some reach its level, but not better. So nice.
