Old Knox Straw

I recently acquired this old Knox straw that tends to think it's a Homburg! I'm sure it didn't start out life that way...and I'd kind of like to flatten out that brim. Would appreciate any suggestions. I've read some about using an iron and some steam...would that be the route for this older hat?

If it did start that way, I think I would want to preserve the look. My wife thinks it looks "cute" on me, but the fact is, it is a bit small and not really my style. Been eyeing up an Art Fawcett blocked Panama Bob Montecristi, truth be known... :)

Anyone else with info on whether this was possibly the original brim shape???

I'm a 7 3/8 LO, this hat is a 7 1/4. Sits pretty high up on my head...I've stretched my fave hat from a 7 1/4 but wouldn't try it on this straw...

I've had good success reshaping straws by spraying them with water.
In some cases a lot of water.
Then you have to hold the shape while it dries.
So I usually work a hat a little at a time.
Even use a hair dryer to speed up the process.

After all its just a basket upside down.
(They soak reads in water in order to weave a basket.)

Hope this helps.
