Better get back on topic otherwise I may get shot by my friend from Maine! :(

Ragsdale and Hansen's Station #1, with a touch of art deco.
Los Angeles, California, ca, 1920~1929.

For me, it is the architect's wife's bare slender arms - casually crossed over and slightly bent...

Probably wouldn't have had to cross her arms if she had this on the steering wheel.

I have a yellow arrow pointed at an item that was popular at the time!
(Guy can't see too good!) :)

Any guess what the item on the steering wheel is?
Car?
Year?
Movie star on the knob?

Super big hint on the car!
Pilgrims landing!

⇧ Marylyn?

I don't know what they are called, but I remember those odd steering wheel "knobs."

From the dash, looks about 1960.

Chrysler is my guess on make.

Some kids wanted a Daisy BB gun.
I longed for an aviator leather helmet & goggles (kid in the middle)
more than anything else on this planet!
Finally got one, even though it was faux leather!
Thanks for posting that image

WARNING!
Image of a creepy Mobiloil creature on the background wall. :D

The previous photo and this one:

"Taken for the Signal Gas and Oil Company in 1934, for an in-house campaign to show Signal
Gasoline station attendants how poor working habits annoy customers and damage their vehicles.

Each of the images demonstrates instances of messy and careless practices that can
scratch painted and chrome-plated surfaces and also allow dirt to get into the
consumers motor (gas pump on the the ground)." From Old Motor Oil Magazine.

Apparently a customer putting air on his tires was considered a "no-no"! :D

It's a necker knob, or Brody, suicide, granny, knuckle buster, or wheel spinner
