These are the only "Four " I've ever heard of they were Horsemen and Valentino played the lead!:)

When I hear "Four Horsemen", I think of Crowley, Leyden, Miller and Stuhlderer.

When I think of FDR I envision a man that had to right an economic system that had gone awry. Up until the crash and subsequent depression the US resembled a purely capitalist economic scheme or Laissez faire economy. FDR sought focused "3 Rs": Relief, Recovery, and Reform. That is, Relief for the unemployed and poor; Recovery of the economy to normal levels; and Reform of the financial system to prevent a repeat depression. As such he instituted a socialist qualities and created a mixed economy. I for one am grateful that he had the intelligence and the temerity to take such drastic measures.

The "Freedom Man" was Irving Berlin's moniker for Uncle Sam, as in "Scrape up the most you can, here comes the Freedom Man, asking you to buy your share of Freedom today!"

Cheer, Cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the echoes cheering her name
Send the volley cheer on high
Shake down the thunder from the sky
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to Victory

Come, now!

I much prefer Victor 22808 (1931) or Victor 19932 (1926).;)

The man could certainly dance AND he could sing. Here he is in 1923 performing El Relicario (with modern orchestration added)

Another unpleasant thing about the so-called "Golden Era". I've always intensely disliked this record, which was recorded for Brunswick in 1923 but was so awful that it was not issued until after his death, at which time it was issued as a sort of macabre souvenir. The new accompaniment and added reverb helps to cover for Valentino's rather "pitchy" singing. His tone-deafness and the rather unpleasant throaty quality of his voice is much more apparent on the original acoustic issue. If you like this sort of thing, pick up Raquel Miller's recording of the Padilla song.
