Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely....

Wow, I'm not the most nearsighted here, ladies - such a relief
I'm having -7.00dpt on the right and -6.25 on the left eye - I'm a bit confuzed with your x/200 description of your eyesight, is it just something american/british or is there something more behind?

I need glasses since I'm 9, having contacts since 13, and am now switching between both since my new (1yr old) glasses are so great ^^

I have those in purple: the metal frame is kinda rose-coppery, the arms are less swirly, more zebra-ish in clear and purple plastic

The times were great when my hair complimented that colour ^^

20/20 vision means you can see at 20 feet what the "average person" can see at 20 feet on the standard Snellen eye chart (the familiar E-FP-TOZ wall chart in every doctor's office.) If you have 20/200 vision you can see at 20 feet what the average person can see at 200 feet, but if you have 20/10 vision you can see at 20 feet what the average person can only see at 10 feet.

Cute specs!

Thank you. ^^

Well.... I guess I'm quite blind then. Without correction I can only see really clear at 2-6 inches or so - that would be what then?

as a vague comparison...

I am at -4.0 and I have 20/400 vision....and in the US....if that level cannot be corrected (obviously mine can), it is legally blind.

Well, wow.
I'm sure happy that my bad eyesight can be corrected as well, everything's kinda round and smooth and fluffy and just coloured without a contour when I'm bare (without glasses/contacts)

That would be 1/20 of the normal distance of sharp eyesight?
Woah, knowing that my eyesight is worse than that is scary...

For example, if I'm not wearing glasses while reading I actually need to put the book closer to my eyes.

But its not so bad, my glasses are pretty ^^

I am pretty close to blind! I usually wear contacts, but I bought some white Ray-Ban wayfarers for glasses. I actually bought them as sunglasses and had my optometrist replace the black lenses with clear prescription ones.

They're these frames:

They cost a small fortune, so I'm not eager to replace them any time soon, but all these pictures of 50s girls with sleek cat's eyes glasses are making me envious! My glasses are really men's glasses, and I think they're cute, but they can be kinda clunky and they don't go with every outfit.

good to know I'm not as blind as i thought LOL
My prescription is +2.0 and +1.75 not sure which way round tho ;)

I got the most gorgeous DKNY glasses in may. I've never had full frames, nevermind plastic dark frames. They were meant as my back up pair. I'm so clumsy I tend to break my glasses. They were so cute, I've ended up wearing them as my everyday ones, and the half frame metal ones as my backup pair :)

Will post a pic when i find it!

EDIT: found the pic, realised I didnt have an avatar. so there we go. Two birds one stone and all.....

I lost sixty percent of my eyesight when i was a child due to a head trauma, i'm blind as a bat without my contacts, although i wear glasses when i'm at home. I don't wear them out much as the lenses are pretty thick, even though i have them made as thin as possible and i feel a bit selfconcious, although i did treat myself to some nice fifties black frames recently. Conversley every boyfriend i have had has begged me to wear them all the time as they thought i looked hot with my specs on, again i think perhaps it's the sexy secretary thing.

I'm loving everyones glasses though, great stuff!

I really want some cat eye glasses frames. I think that's what they're called... Anyway, I really would like to buy some! But I'm not sure if I can get my prescription put into them. Some store in my town had some I wanted to buy and they were only ten dollars but I had no money on me. :/ I want them to fit right too, my current ones seem kind of small on my face.
