hi dean if your stilll around, just by pure chance , ive managed to get some authentic 83 mesh vents from old bannermans stock , they cost , but worth it , they got three little prongs that you bend over, so they were made especialy for hats! and very easy to fit, and also im sure the source has got 1889 1'' vents as well cheers larry

I couldn't tell from the photo the catalog had. Well, to my eye the felt is too thick, but I would imagine there isn't a whole lot that can be done about that. It's not like we can make felts the proper way any more. Otherwise, it looks like a good repro.

Here is my latest Scout Campaign hat.
It is the 'Scout Association' (U.K.) version. £42 on the website, this is brand new and from ebay £30.
The hat itself, is very similar to my 'Olney'. But, without the vent holes in the crown, but does have a leather lace. No idea who the maker is.

It also comes with this very cheap and very nasty PVC hatband. Which I removed straight away!

Why on earth put this rubbish on it?

Very nice job, quick question where did you get the leather replacement band from? I am thinking of getting one and your band really gives it that extra zing.

My Olney scout hat, made in the UK in Luton, Bedfordshire, I used to live around the corner about 800 yards away about 20 years ago and only just found out they made these!

I brought it from the British Boys Scouts Association http://bbsandbgs.org.uk/ with the help of fellow lounger and Campaign Hat member Steve27752

I need to work on the brim to get it flatter and I am aware of the rubber cobra in my rose bush, the rattler on the path gave the postman a jump :) supposed to keep the fox and cats away.
