Thank you for the compliments Joao and RJR. The hat's in excellent condition and looks barely worn. I'm going to try to find out more about the original owner. Always nice when you can find the original owner's name in the hat.

check this out ... maybe you can contact this guy and get access to those records

So came across 2 different Covers on Ebay today. Not your usual hat cords which gotme to thinking mayby I've gone the wrong way using the standard 1902/1940 hat cords. But the Snowflake vent pictured along with the vents... See the smoke from my brain wafting by... 89 brass.jpg

It's been a little while since someone has posted in this thread...
So I have a question, I have been thinking of ordering a custom campaign from Stratton. i am a scout leader and hats are part of our uniform. I currently wear an old brown Brandford that was converted into a campaign who knows when. The crown is kind of tall, 6.5 in and has a 3 1/2 in. brim, but it hasn't always fit me as well as I would like. I was thinking an f40 in olive or brown with a 3 1/2 or 3 1/4 in brim, but I have been starting to wonder if their quality will hold up. I have also wondered if they would do it in their10x that they do western hats in. Not as good as a beaver blend, but then again it's $136 and I'm on a budget.
But I have also thought about seeing if they would do it with the NPS/Border Patrol crown with the bigger brim. I think that it would settle in a little better. I use my hats in all weathers so I expect some character building as its not pure beaver, but I don't want a deformed cone on my head either, but I would douse it in Scotch Guard first...
Thank you gents for your help. I am open to other hatters as well, Stratton just kind of has a monopoly on campaigns...

I've wanted a reasonably good repro Spanish American War campaign hat and would to find something of reasonably quality I'd be proud to wear most everyday for a reasonable price.

If there would be a "Buff" color Stetson of the near correct spec for an M1899 I might try modifying it myself.

Also,if anyone has a good repro M1899 size 7 to trade I have an original WWII US Army Air Corps Campaign Hat USAAF orig cord in excellent condition.

Thanks,

Dick

Thank you for the reply. I looked on ebay but not sure which hat you're referring to. I did see one Stetson that looks like a good candidate but am waiting reply on crown, brim measurements and definite size.
Cheers

If you can post the Ebay item # or something, I'd like to take a look at it. There's an awful lot of used cowboy hats but could not find the one you described. I may be interested in the vents depending on what hat I may find.
Thanks for the help...
