I feel your pain. I try to go to bed at midnight, so I can be up at 8. Usually, I'm on more of a 3-11 schedule :/

Wow Tom, that is exactly the schedule I'm on right now. I hate it :(

Me too - I was on this schedule for months and I'm just now trying to force it into being a 1-9 schedule so that I can find a new apartment and apply for jobs. You know, all that stupid we-close-at-five-because-we're-lightweights sort of fare. Psh. Charlotte has some great 24-hour places that I'm totally missing out on during late nights now. Last year I did a college paper on 24-hour urban realms in Charlotte - places in the city where you can work, shop, eat and get groceries at anytime of day. Little mini 24-hour cities within a city. Had a conceptual framework for it and everything, based it on James Vance's urban realms model from California in the 60s. Yeah. Geography is cool. XD Well, I tried at least.

I usually don't even get to work until 4 or 5 p.m., so I'm always up until about 3 every night. For some reason I usually sleep about 10 hours per night, I don't know why I have to sleep so much!

I DID forget something important... my vintage 1943 fedora is still hanging up on her grandparents' hat rack! :( well, at least I know they'll take good care of it till I visit them next... and now that I'm in Europe again it's EXTREMELY easy to find vintage hats, so I won't sunburn despite my forgetful moment...

And yes this looks like I'm on in daytime, but after staying awake for 34 hours and only catching 9 hours sleep in the last 73 I'd say this is one of my longest nights ever.... But hey, I saw Budapest! :D And last but not least, I did NOT forget the wife! :D  :D

It lives!
The Night-owl thread is still cracking wide its bleary eyes, it's my only night shift this month, but I thought I'd check on the thread and see if anyone was up and about.

Any other owls out there?

If so, I'm curious, what nocturnal proclivities do you find yourself doing late at night? For me it's anything but reading... leaning towards mostly movie watching.

I'm a tried and true nightowl and have been since I was a little kid. I have worked late shift for nine years and have no intentions of changing. I have always functioned best at night. I keep the same late hours even on my days off unless I have reason to go to bed and get up early. On those rare occasions when I'm forced to get up at an early morning hour, I literally have to drag myself out of bed and can't function until I get a few cups of coffee down. On my nights off, I'm either reading, writing, or surfing the web.

Well I too am a night owl, and it definitely helps when at work cause while the other guys sleep Im awake, keeps my snoring from waking them up. HaHa. But there are the nights like last night when we all are up, we caught a fire early this morning around 230am. Didn't get back in house til 2 and a half hours after our shift was over at 9:30am. Been in and out of sleep all day, wide awake tonight lol!

I'm leaving work early tonight to see if I can go home and get a few hours sleep before heading to a picnic late tomorrow morning. It's fifty-fifty on whether I'll be able to sleep a wink. I'm not feeling very sleepy.

It's 4am, who's up? :D I spent the day moving to a new apartment across town, although I'm still sleeping in the old one tonight.

Lightweights.
