It was my job that made me create this thread in the first place, rotating night shifts and so on. But it allows me to peruse the internet for some good vintage finds. I've bought nearly all my good finds while at work.

Haha I just use esnipe. I was out sniped myself too many times and decided to let the computer do the work for me. Thats the problem with the lounge though is that it gives me all these new ideas about how to spend money I don't have. Must stay off ebay.....

esnipe, I've lost out to that program too many times. But never for vintage wear. I suppose its my smaller size.

That and being in Alaska has its perks. I'm up when most people are half asleep and here it could only be eight o'clock.

I can see that as an advantage but do many auctions end in the middle of the night? From stateside anyway?

Well, that's hit and miss, sometimes I get lucky and they end right when I'm at work, and as my job entails me sitting around until something happens, I can keep a close eye on it.

It's so late it's early everywhere else.

Sniper is handy when you are in another time zone.

I must admit I have also saved a lot of money using a sniper. It forces me to think about my top dollar I'm prepared to pay, and more than once I have deleted a snipe before the auction end.

To all the night owls, your mates in the Antipodes are wide awake:)

I don't play any of those games, although I love the original Bioshock, because the design of the game is so wonderfully Art Deco. The sequel was dissapointing.

For anyone who has not played the game, its ridiculous fun to play at night, with all the lights off.

This is the art from the game:

yes beautiful artwork. I don't like to waste time on games, so screen shots should be fine

I meant I'm working 4 10 hour shifts so I can have Friday off. I get to go home this weekend and want more than one full day there, since I'll be driving 24 hours total...

Well, last night shift for a few days, then the whole thing starts again.

Oy, I need a new schedule.
Like to trade? I don't think 6x24 with only 2-3 hours at a time and commutes for sleep (nice thing about public transit; helps that I get along well with the usual drivers and they wake me before my stops) would be much more to your liking... lol :p

Years ago, I found myself with a partner who was cheating me, more work than I could handle, a clinging wife and a two year-old son. I had no time for myself, and barely a life. I quit the partnership, went back on my own, and was about to start the whole drag of a schedule over again, except working for myself. I sat staring at the clock one night, imagining grabbing it by the margins and forcing it to go backwards, in the way a character might in those old black-and-white cartoons. I wanted more time!

Then I realized that if I was the boss, I could set whatever schedule I wanted. So in my new office, I opened at 11:00 a.m. Anyone who wanted to see me would just have to come when I'm available. In the evenings, we would have family time, then I would put the kid to bed and the wife would have me to herself. Then she would go to bed and I would stay up in my study until 3 or 4 in the morning--my time! Everybody happy! I would still get a decent night's sleep and business didn't suffer at all for the shorter hours. I have maintained this same schedule for fifteen years now and it works for me.

not everyone has that luxury though... I was barely able to change this week from normal 5-8s to 4-10s

Teaching must be like the service. Do they pay you salary too or hourly?

*Hoot*

Salary derives-as I recall-from the Roman coin called a solari; currency paid a Legion dogface for a day's service.
"Three hots and a cot" pro patria. ;)

Late night thesis research, hot java, and listening to a thunderstorm and WBBM *78 AM Radio post game analysis.
Bears lose another one. :(

I make a salary, correct me if I'm wrong because it's late here already, but that is where you're paid no matter what? That's what I have, which is nice, because technically I am getting paid right now.

Oh and *hoot*
