Did anyone receive any vintage goodies this holiday season?
would you like to share? I got a gorgeous 1940s pearl choker from my grandma's personal collection.
I got a box set of Bing Crosby music. 1930's through the 50's. Suppose at least the music might count as vintage. Original recordings remastered. They sound great!
The good lady wife provided the cash for a certain donegal tweed 30s-40s SB jacket i won on eBay. And a german 30s-40s leather trenchcoat that was going pretty cheap in an army surplus place here ...
Over x-mas dinner the device was passed around the
table. This simple-looking but incredibly elegant machine
fastens sheets of paper together without staples by slicing
tiny slits and threading a tab of paper through them. Although
the one I gave was made in 1916, it still worked every time.
We tested it binding from 2 to 8 pages.
As is so often the case when people see a "lost" technology,
the conversation turned to how it is possible that we no longer
value such devices. I resisted the urge to take out the 1950s roll-up
Featherweight Borsalino I had been wearing that day...
Unfortunately, the owner of the Early Office Museum has decided to
close his "museum store" for a while. But do look at the site- it's amazing.
My friend from New York visited us in Asia and brought me the 1933 King Kong tin and the Thin Man Collection. GREAT GREAT MOVIES! The reproduction program in the Kong set is insane.
My mom gave me a snowman bank from the 50's. It's the kind the bank gave you when you opened an account, she also gave me some vintage pinecone Christmas people. My daughter gave me silk a bed jacket to go with my 1940's nightgown. My husband gave me a 1940's watch, and $50 for ebay. I think it will go toward the shoes I need to go with my 1930's evening gown. Oh and my sister and brother gave me gift certificates for my favorite vintage store. I'll be using those this Tuesday . Trix
My dad gave me a pearl necklace/bracelet/earrings set. Mine was stolen about a year ago and I guess my mom was tired of me borrowing hers every other day.
