NEWS BOY CAPS

These are not cookie-cutter caps.

What I wanted was a cap with a lot of material and the depth to encompass a rather large noggin. This allows the individual wearer to shape his/her cap as suits their fancy. That is exactly what I received.

These hats are sewn by people working from their homes. I have no idea how many people this includes but would imagine that some slight variances could occur in construction. I actually like that as I'm in favor of cottage-based industry.

I'm trying to decide what to order next. A linen cap for spring comes to mind.

Cowboy, You should order a cap from these folks!

Carter hit the bullseye on these. They are truly hand-made items, with all of the natural variances that go with that. Much like a hand-made custom fedora, there can be no exact duplication. And that suits me just fine.

By the way, I just a message - my second is in the mail!!! :D

Torpedo, I like that grey herringbone.

I received my black, extra-full cut from the HatPeople today. With the adjustment made in the elastic, this one is just about perfect and the extra-full cut is just what I wanted.

Mine came yesterday, but I'm still trying to decide if I'll keep it. I was supposed to get something dominantly gray, but in the house it looks completely green. I haven't had a chance to go look at it in the sun. If I like it in good light, I'll be posting pictures.

Now, if I could just manage to remember to call Hanna early, I could look into one of those to round out my tweed collection.

OK. I decided to keep it. The green doesn't overwhelm the gray in good natural light. AS promised, the pictures;

Hi NB13,

This one does not look a herringbone pattern - is it the small houdstooth they have now in substitution of their earlier HB green?

BTW, you look greeat with that cap and the peacoat.

Regards!

Torpedo, it's not even really a houndstooth. I think it's a traditional tweed pattern, which looks like houndstooth from a distance. It's not on their website. I called them and asked if they had something that was dominantly gray in a mixed pattern, and they had this tucked away. There's only a touch of green to it.

Here's couple shots of my new HatPeople "Deep cut" Houndstooth. Perhaps another option for those who may prefer a less full patterned Newsboy...

Great looking hat. I'm glad to see something other than their usual offerings. That cap looks really sporting. Jackets not too bad either.
