Really? How do you beat Liberace in space?

Me like Gorn, despite its rubbersuit era cheese.

Its miniskirt makes me think it might be a female , like the horta with her eggs. ;)

back to the movie

the LATimes has a piece on the film's scriptwriters :

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-ca-startrek29-2009mar29,0,2065093.story

On getting Nimoy on board:

"He had retired and turned down many offers to return to this character, so this was asking the greatest gunslinger to strap on the pistol one more time. . . . His wife told us later that he didn't get out of the chair for several hours [and] that he was overwhelmed by all of it and the decision."

well here's hoping they're good, I still have my reservations but I think it may be worth seeing. That said I'm not too happy with kirk's backstory.

I can't wait for the new Trek movie to come out. I know a few Trekkies who refuse to go and see it but I am one who is looking forward to it... gives me a chance to put on my Starfleet uniform again. Ha, I find it funny that one side of me likes to dress up in styles from the past while the other loves dressing up as a Starfleet officer from the future.

DH, our 3 boys and I will be going to see it at a cinema. The first time I ever danced with my husband was to the Star Trek theme at a Sci-Fi convention. I would love to be able to see it at an IMAX or even at an old Cinema 150. :D

every time I get irritated by new developments...

I remind myself that if it's bad I'll always have the original series/movies and if it's good then I can look forward to more decent Trek in the future.

there was a story about raymond chandler that pertains to this nicely I think. When a movie based on a book of his (can't remember which one now) was made it deviated extremely far from the plot and someone visiting him said something about how sad it was that his book was ruined, he got up, plucked the book off his shelf and skimmed through it and said "nope, book's still fine."

Aww, that sounds so romantic. I hope I have a story like that someday.

:eek:fftopic: Actually, you'd be surprised how many folks have that kind of "split personality". (Not in the clinical sense like what I'm half of, but in the sense of having two distinct "profiles" they operate under.)

It's getting unbelievably positive reviews at Rotten Tomatoes. A rating of 100% fresh. I'm surprised it's been that positive so far.

one of the (only) things I didn't like about TOS was the costumes on the crew (always too 60's IMO) but I loved some of the monsters and your nero one looks great

I liked TOS uniforms. I want to make my own. I think my favorite Starfleet uniforms were the ones worn by the crew of Voyager.
