New schott c729 Officer's Overcoat

I just noticed this. Single breasted, wool, but somehow lacking something to my eye anyway. The epaulettes I can go either way with but the collar doesn't excite me. The fit looks a bit bland. Any opinions on how it looks and if a good tailor could or should do anything to it?

Looks nice, but seems a lot of money for a relatively unremarkable style.

I am always a bit reluctant to say things like this, even if it is some anonymous model on the internet who will never be "hurt" by my comments, but....the guy makes the coat look like a homeless person's ratty, smelly, thrid hand coat.

That's sorta my take. There's this odd "let's make this cool by looking like we don't care" thing that I am just tired of.
You either get pretty boys or Super Man looking guys or now, homeless looking dudes.
I guess it's just all marketing and I should ignore it. But like you said, I don't know the guy and I'm not knocking him as much as knocking the marketers...

I think add two horizontal flap pockets, a chest pocket, and a slight taper. Nice color though.

Almost the same as the last Nigel Cabourn items pictures on their page. They're using a super skinny guy wearing oversized clothes that don't fit, creating a weird image of the clothes themselves.

The Cabourn stuff looks pretty weird anyhow. It's the inevitable result of "Look at this cool vintage desin, why don't we just put our stamp on it....."

I have seen nicer surplus jacket for much less, though. My Guards greatcoat was GBP25, never been worn.... just need to buy some buttons for it.

To quote that dodgy horse off of Ren and Stimpy, no sir I don't like it.

A good overcoat/greatcoat can (and should) have a flattering silhouette and not look like an old blanket with buttons sewn on. This unfortunately has all the drape and panache of a bin liner.

And a bin liner is a darn sight cheaper too.
