I decided to reblock my optimo and give it a more square shape. What do you guys think? which one do you like more?

I prefer the more angular look. Whilst taking into consideration all the no-doubt accurate observations about the slightly skewed result, I think the squarer shape basically works better for that sort of hat - to my tastes at least .

Remember too that what's important is how a given hat looks and feels on the actual wearer's head, not how it looks on a stand or as a centerfold.

I worked on the shape a little more. Smoothen the ridge, straightened it and used the hat insert to avoid the hat stand pushing it up. Any better?

Cool shot... I'm going for the after. It still retains the ease of rollability, yet has that edginess of your own personal style. You have improved your hat.

I think I’d change my vote to after. Without the hat stand effect, it gives it a much different -- and overall much better -- look. Nice job. :eusa_clap

I am more a fan of the squared off Optimo in general. I think your econd set of shots show off your work in a better light. I like it!

One of my favourite hats is a pre-1936 British (Lincoln-Bennett) Optimo crown panama. It really is a glorious hat.

The only thing I did not like about the after was the ridge as viewed from straight on and you seemed to haved fixed that nicely now.
