When it comes to Ebay I'm all about the big "C", communication. I'm super lenient as long as I know what's going on, and I stress that with all my buyers/sellers. Busy at work, no problem! Just let me know. Post office under water, just drop me a line. Sometimes I have to beg someone for a little info, but I always try to do it low pressure. I only want to know what's going on. I'm proud of my 100% positive score and I work hard to keep it. Most people could avoid negative ratings if they communicated better.

Believe you me! I get just as nuts as you do. My last hat, the seller had just missed my payment and I had to wait a whole week for their next shipping opportunity, doh! I tend to get all ANXIOUS, nervous and fiddley waiting for thes cool ebay things, although I am better than when I was younger!

That is true at work, school, home and even relationships. The horror stories I can tell about the place I worked at. If information is power, they sure as heck couldn't share it, no matter how it affected your job.

Heads up and What's Going on?

Yes, communication is definitely important on a place like eBay with so much opportunity for scamming. Even just a quick note to say "Hey, I acknowledge you're alive and made a business transaction." I mean, I work a full time job, but I manage to check my e-mail a few times a day. But then again i'm not selling a bunch of stuff on eBay. I dunno, i'm just impatient and excited to get my first fedora. I've already got some outfits together to show it off. Now I just need the hat!

I know you're all probably at the edges of your seats in anticipation for news on my hat. ;)
I got an e-mail from the seller today, my hat was shipped priority USPS today, so, i'm expecting it maybe Friday or Saturday, so, expect to see some pics soon!

Hallo Ladies and Gents!
I've been lurking around for a few days reading up on hats and other things "vintage" and i'm intrigued. I've always been interested in the old suit and hat style of the 30's and 40's. I think it all got started when I used to watch old episodes of The Twilight Zone, and i'd wonder if everyone used to really wear suits like that all the time. A more civilized age? Was it possible? Apparently so. I'm 23, so, i'm a little young to be dressing "distinguished", but I assume some people on this forum will disagree. When shopping, I used to look at clothes and think, "OK, is this something I could wear to Wal Mart and not get laughed at." Well, I live in the armpit of the Midwest, where everyone wears sweats and rayon jackets displaying various cigarette company's logos. But I digress. I have only two suits at the moment, one is a tailored single breasted black pinstripe, not vintage, I got it at Men's Wearhouse, but it has a classy look. I also have a vintage gray three piece suit, but I have no idea of the brand or anything, I got it off eBay. And finally, just yesterday, I purchased my first fedora. Please check it out and tell me what you all think!!

I plan on losing the little feather thing, I don't think i'll like it. But, who knows, when the hat comes in the mail, I may look at it and change my mind. Well I guess i've rambled on long enough, I just wanted to introduce myself and show off the new headgear.

Very nice hat Mr. Mis.! Great deal! But ditch the feather. I do.

Nice Hat....

...I bought one exactly like it, same color feather , box and everything. I love mine, wear it almost every day. You'll like the darker grey, doesn't show dirt and dust as much. Glad I didn't see it, it's my size! Wear it in good health

I usually pay immediately after an auction is over - but I absolutely expect to hear from the seller within three days as per Ebay policy. I wait until the 3rd day before I send an email, but then I remind them politely that I need to hear from them as confirmation that they have received the money. I also ask them to confirm which day they shipped, or will ship. That normally does the trick.

There are a few ill-mannered sellers who just take the money, ship the box and don't email you to know either one has happened...but they normally respond to a prompt and tell me "it was shipped yesterday". Every now and then it takes longer to hear from them - I recently had a sale go unanswered for a week when the seller was called out of town on a family emergency. I was getting antsy, but NOT rude, and they apologized when they got back and received my emails.

Well I actually did get the hat about a month ago, folks. lol I have three fedoras and one homburg now.. but, I wear the gray Stetson (the one I posted about in this thread) the most, it's my favorite. :) But when my Art Faecett custom comes, they may need to fight for the spot.
