@roadking04 have you tried LW?
Thanks for share this and sorry for this horrible experience! It reinforced my point that there is no such a "Best customer service" exist, they are all the same. I got banned from Vanson by returning 3 products : one horrible thin leather Enfield (Mike said he doesn't like the leather either, one streamliner vest which I found it smells when I sweat, one hardcore highwayman which is I don't like the fit.AFTER putting down a $500 deposit, waiting almost 2 months in the que, sending in my measurements and details, and a few calls in between, I received a call from Langlitz yesterday. They said they are going to decline my order. I am bummed and a little pissed. I wish they would have said something in the beginning instead of having to wait almost 2 months.
I ordered a jacket in 2008 and it didn't fit. To baggy in spots for m/c use. They insisted I wear it for a season and see what happens. It still didn't fit, so they agreed to make another one. The second one didn't fit any better. They refunded my money and said they wouldn't try again. That was back in my weightlifting/powerlifting days. I guess my body type was hard to fit. I figured I would try again and be easy to fit with my "dad bod" I have now. I explained the situation and they said they would have to decline.
Bummed out and back to the drawing board.
They are one of the few U.S. makers I haven't tried. They seem to be the heaviest duty of the heavy duties. I did a lot of looking into this company. Stu's jackets look flawless. I am just not sure they will work on the bike. To me, a TRUE riding jacket has to be shorter in the front and dip down in the back. I think they have to have a full action back also.
I love LW's speed demon and J23. Quality and craftmanship is no issue at all. I am just not sure the pattern would work as an m/c jacket. I am fearing they are not long enough in the back. I am also under the impression that Stu doesn't like to alter patterns or supply measurements.
A perfect fit is essential when riding in colder weather. The jacket has to seal out all the drafts. If it doesn't fit right, you are always pulling on it and making adjustments. Then you are fighting the jacket and the cold.
My Schott 618HH is my "go to" warm weather riding jacket. It is about an inch and a half short in the back for the cold weather. Plus the lack of an inside pocket is a little annoying.
I am back in the hunt for the Holy Grail. I guess that is where all the fun is anyway. lol.
My J23 was exceptional!
No doubt about it!! Your post SHOULD read "is" not "was". Hope you still have it.
This happened to me at the beginning of the year, although they turned my order down after a mere week and a half. I felt pissed off and insulted but I kept my cool, if it had been two months and that happened I imagine I would’ve had some pretty choice words for the guys at Langlitz. In any case I went from being an extremely satisfied loyal customer to someone who will buy all of my jackets elsewhere from now on.AFTER putting down a $500 deposit, waiting almost 2 months in the que, sending in my measurements and details, and a few calls in between, I received a call from Langlitz yesterday. That’s just plain absurd. Did they give you any reason!? Is there one!? I don’t understand that at all. I’d be pissed!AFTER putting down a $500 deposit, waiting almost 2 months in the que, sending in my measurements and details, and a few calls in between, I received a call from Langlitz yesterday. That’s just plain BS man. Doesn’t sit well with me. And you are absolutely right. At that price it has to be right. Sorry for the frustration. Look forward to seeing the next project of yours.@ton312, I was upset for sure. The reason they said was "they couldn't get it right back in'08" I only had 1 remake. I was bummed out they wouldn't try again back then. I really wanted one of their jackets. The remake was almost an exact copy of the original.
11 years later, I was still hoping to get a Columbia. I had no idea I was banned. I wish they would have said something in the beginning. I was always polite and pleasant on the phone with them. I guess I caught them on bad days. They make great jackets, but for that price, they HAVE to fit.
I guess the hunt continues. LOL. I have my sights set in on my next maker. He is the only one who can get it done.
