AFTER putting down a $500 deposit, waiting almost 2 months in the que, sending in my measurements and details, and a few calls in between, I received a call from Langlitz yesterday. They said they are going to decline my order. I am bummed and a little pissed. I wish they would have said something in the beginning instead of having to wait almost 2 months.

I ordered a jacket in 2008 and it didn't fit. To baggy in spots for m/c use. They insisted I wear it for a season and see what happens. It still didn't fit, so they agreed to make another one. The second one didn't fit any better. They refunded my money and said they wouldn't try again. That was back in my weightlifting/powerlifting days. I guess my body type was hard to fit. I figured I would try again and be easy to fit with my "dad bod" I have now. I explained the situation and they said they would have to decline.

Bummed out and back to the drawing board.

Thanks for sharing this. Kinda strange and shitty situation.

i wish they made some stock jackets and listed measurements and one could do the full custom deal, buy stock, or could just adjust from stock. I think that would cut down on their remakes for sure.

A bit odd for them to offer a service then ban you if you utilize it. I get banning certain types, but this certainly doesn’t fall into that category. And most customers probably are happy with the first build, so it’s a marketing and sales win for them in the end. @roadking04 have you tried LW?

They are one of the few U.S. makers I haven't tried. They seem to be the heaviest duty of the heavy duties. I did a lot of looking into this company. Stu's jackets look flawless. I am just not sure they will work on the bike. To me, a TRUE riding jacket has to be shorter in the front and dip down in the back. I think they have to have a full action back also.

I love LW's speed demon and J23. Quality and craftmanship is no issue at all. I am just not sure the pattern would work as an m/c jacket. I am fearing they are not long enough in the back. I am also under the impression that Stu doesn't like to alter patterns or supply measurements.

A perfect fit is essential when riding in colder weather. The jacket has to seal out all the drafts. If it doesn't fit right, you are always pulling on it and making adjustments. Then you are fighting the jacket and the cold.

My Schott 618HH is my "go to" warm weather riding jacket. It is about an inch and a half short in the back for the cold weather. Plus the lack of an inside pocket is a little annoying.

I am back in the hunt for the Holy Grail. I guess that is where all the fun is anyway. lol.

Thanks for share this and sorry for this horrible experience! It reinforced my point that there is no such a "Best customer service" exist, they are all the same. I got banned from Vanson by returning 3 products : one horrible thin leather Enfield (Mike said he doesn't like the leather either, one streamliner vest which I found it smells when I sweat, one hardcore highwayman which is I don't like the fit.
I also got banned from LW by returning absolutely defect jacket which there is a large blue tint on the front sleeve, he refuse to admit, issue the refund and reject my order ever since.
So far so good with Aero.

Stu will adjust length. My J23 was exceptional!

This happened to me at the beginning of the year, although they turned my order down after a mere week and a half. I felt pissed off and insulted but I kept my cool, if it had been two months and that happened I imagine I would’ve had some pretty choice words for the guys at Langlitz. In any case I went from being an extremely satisfied loyal customer to someone who will buy all of my jackets elsewhere from now on.
I had a somewhat similar story to you, although in my case they had to remake two jackets for me and in both cases I was perfectly pleased with the remake. I did not realize there was a two strikes you’re out policy however...
I have to echo JMax‘s suggestion about checking out Lost Worlds. That is what I did after my Langlitz experience and it proved to be very fortuitous indeed. I have modified CHP made with Stu’s heavy heavy horse and it is unlike any of my other jackets. Stu was a pleasure to work with and he was willing to entertain my modifications within reason.

That’s just plain absurd. Did they give you any reason!? Is there one!? I don’t understand that at all. I’d be pissed!

@ElMarro,I didn't even get 3 strikes. They only made one remake. I was always calm and polite. I really regretted calling them and having to tell them it didn't fit. It was just way to big in some spots. when on the bike, it would even balloon up. I was a little upset when they told me to wear it for a season. I knew it wasn't gonna get any better. After I did that, they wouldn't make me another and I guess I got banned.

I definitely have looked at Stu's stuff numerous times. I love the speed demon and J23. I am just not sure if his patterns work as a true m/c jacket. I think I am going to have to try one of his juggernauts some day. I was always under the impression that he didn't like to modify any of his patterns.

Hopefully I have 2 more jackets in me( probably more, lol). My next jacket will hopefully be an "end all, be all" m/c jacket. Then my next, and hopefully last jacket (probably not) will be from LW.

@ton312, I was upset for sure. The reason they said was "they couldn't get it right back in'08" I only had 1 remake. I was bummed out they wouldn't try again back then. I really wanted one of their jackets. The remake was almost an exact copy of the original.

11 years later, I was still hoping to get a Columbia. I had no idea I was banned. I wish they would have said something in the beginning. I was always polite and pleasant on the phone with them. I guess I caught them on bad days. They make great jackets, but for that price, they HAVE to fit.

I guess the hunt continues. LOL. I have my sights set in on my next maker. He is the only one who can get it done.

That’s just plain BS man. Doesn’t sit well with me. And you are absolutely right. At that price it has to be right. Sorry for the frustration. Look forward to seeing the next project of yours.
