New Himel transcontinental railroad - what do you think, keep or return?

I received yesterday new Himel which I got from Orvis’s sale page. With shipping, customs and taxes it cost me about 850 €, so cheap for a Himel but with same money I could get a new Aero.

I was a bit underwhelmed with this jacket when I first took it out of package. Himel’s being in general very expensive, I was expecting some kind of a ”wow” - effect. But no, it’s nicely built leather jacket, but I’ve been more impressed with some other jackets.

But enough of my impressions. Here’s my pluses and minuses and photos. Please tell me your opinion. Should I keep it or should I return it?

+ nice medium weight steer with great graining.
+ I like the color
+ I like the style in general

- baggy fit around waistline even with waist straps in second tighter button
- strange shape of collar
- borderline of being one size too big all around (the jacket is XXL, which according to Orvis is right for sizes 48-50, which is exactly my size range)

I agree with your own observations. Beautiful colour and very nice looking jacket but definitely too big and that collar does look a bit odd, but maybe that's just because the overall fit just isn't right on you.
I would return and invest in something that looks right on you.

It does seem a little big. Sleeves I don't think are a problem since they might lose a bit of length with wear or could always be shortened.

It's that collar that has my attention. How does it look fully buttoned up? That pic would perhaps be the most revealing shot

those buttons on the back are weird, and whose neck could fill that huge neckhole...
nice looking leather, and sturdy throat/ neck for the button support.

I really like the concept of the Transcontinental and the Northlander. I bid on an Orvis Transcontinental on EBAY and I very nearly picked it up (the seller declined my final offer). It would have been slightly too large by my estimation. However, in retrospect I'm glad that I saved the money and bought my Freewheelers Journeyman instead.
This one looks too big for you - a smaller size (or a bespoke Northlander/Canuck from David Himel) would be the way to go.

I just came back from Movies - Deadpool 2, which featured the Juggernaut. I’m pretty sure this jacket (especially the neck hole) is designed for Mr Naut while he is on offseason with beer and pizza diet.

I feel bad, as I'm the one who informed you about the sale. I'm hoping the jacket will look a lot better once it gets broken in: I know Boyo (here on the Lounge) got one and was pleased with it. I hope it works out for you.
