Personally I don't care for this style of jacket but you wear it well PL, and if it's for riding in then I agree that is the perfect hide.

As for opinions... the only one that matters is yours. Sometimes it seems like
people are looking for reassurance or to be told what to like here. You ordered a

Looks perfect. I like your conditions 'no fit comments' - its funny and you're confident about the fit and rightly so - your jackets look good to me. The hide is really nice and grain a bit different from others.

Great looking jacket mate, thanks for sharing. The grain on that leather is phenomenal, is it heavy but soft? It looks to drape like some heavy elk / deerskin jackets I've seen. You wear it well too, I hope you enjoy breaking it in

I noticed the other week that a fellow Lounger here (with a familiar name) said that he had 5 jackets that he'd never posted photos of here and wouldn't in the future either - and it's little wonder as to why with comments like this.
Just as some people post photos of themselves in a jacket and invite comments on fit (which of course could be negative - but nonetheless should be made tactfully and respectfully), Plumbline said he didn't want comments on fit and that should be respected. He went to the trouble to get some very good photos to post as he "thought you might like to see it" - for everyone's benefit. I wouldn't say it's anything to do with being defensive - it's about minimising pointless flak that's not a concern of his and staying on point - namely the jacket.
And still ....
Like I said, it's no wonder that some people don't want to post what they have - and that doesn't help everyone/someone else out there who's maybe looking for something just like what Plumbline has.

As for the jacket, Plumbline, I think it's a winner. I love the grain - and the colour and cut. Really nice.
I love the hat too - it finishes the jacket off well IMO. It's a great look you have.

Jacket looks great. Bison sure has a big unique grain. Hopefully you have found a keeper. We just have to get you to rotate your pics. The couple photo editing programs I have in Windows lets you rotate. It's no biggy but my phone won't let me look at them right side up. It keeps flipping them. On computer now so I can tilt and see the full leather glory.

I agree, Thor. And it certainly looks like a tough and hard-wearing jacket to me.
I love the grain on the jacket - I've never seen a jacket made in Bison hide before.
I notice that Orvis sells a few products made of Bison - but they state that they're unavailable for shipping to customers outside of the USA - Hmmm. Most curious ....

I was born and raised in Detroit, so I guess I'll take it as such. Though I do associate the style more with Hollywood than Detroit. Incidentally, this is a Detroit Motor Corp uniform jacket I found at a church rummage sale a decade or so back. I think it's the style they still use. The large ticket pocket is pretty distinctive.



More on topic, I have to stop looking at these threads I don't need more things to covet, and Alexander's Drifter really falls into that category!

I agree, I'm more about comfort than looks. If the jacket is uncomfortable I'll never wear it. The whole slim look thing has nothing to do with function or comfort. If I cant move right in the jacket I wont wear it riding or pretty much at all. Also everyone is built differently and jackets are sized by chest size, not shoulders, which is usually why I have to size up.

Very nice; I especially like the unzippered slash pockets. Zippers are fine if you're carrying something in them, but in a jacket like this you usually don't and it's just something else to go wrong. The worst are the "flap and a snap" pockets; if you do put your hands into them for warmth the overflap sticking out just looks and feels awkward. It looks even worse if you fail to snap them closed afterward,

As has been said, great lining. Some people go for a shearling lining and it wouldn't look as clean/sharp in this application.
