While it is on the short side, its still within the "correct" range of lengths for this style of jacket. Its how they are supposed to fit, just rock it man, it looks great.

Check out Wade from Thurston Bros, he wears his even shorter and it looks awesome!

Looking at the back view, the length looks spot on for a jean jacket. From the front it does looks a tad short but, as mentioned, the tan belt just draws the eye. Solution, black belt, wear and enjoy it. Nice graining already on the steerhide.

This image works despite the length because it’s a combination of a slender wearer, more generous cut or the drape of the hide is good. The heft of the steer, coupled with the lower rise of the jeans, and trimmer cut mean that it doesn’t really work for the OP in my view. Would it be rectified with an extra inch in length, a higher rise, or a slightly larger size, or a combination?

I think the length is fine for the style, the leather looks nice, but those swooping in creases on the upper sleeve looks like the jacket's shoulder and chest are too wide for you.

Interesting. The leather seems able to be shaped very well in response to water, so I could conceivably soak just the upper arms and have them shrink down a bit. It could affect the overall sleeve length though.

I like it. Fits looks good to me. Those Aero Apprentice-Made jackets are always an utter bargain if you can get one in your size; my Highwayman came that way in 2012, and it's been one of my most-worn jacket since.

Dude, in my book, this is EXACTLY how these jackets should fit and more importantly, look on someone! It's perfect on you! And it honestly doesn't even seem short at all. Not even close to being short, let alone too short. Those trousers clearly sit pretty low but despite that, even if it was a noticeably longer jacket, I'm afraid it would just end up looking weird, like any of the newer Levi's models. Besides, the jacket completely covers the belt on the back.

Type III is a super short style. Those vintage ones are like 22" in the back. They've got five to six buttons. Extra length messes up the design, whatever you may feel about short jackets. You've nothing to worry about.

I tend to agree. As ever, there's a tremendous amount of subjectivity in these things, but to my eye classic jackets which have been elongated to work with modern, ultra-low rise jeans just look all kinds of wrong. Totally throws out the proportions. I had a Levis jacket years ago from the 'Type 1' range they did (NOT what we'd call a Type 1, but the range with the very pronounced stitching and the very pointy pockets, very deep 'v' stitch design on the back, all that). I wore it a lot around 2006, but it was always just about three inches too long in the body to look 'right'.

The jeans in OP's photo look to be super-low; if they were even an inch or two higher it wouldn't be noticeable. In any case, I don't think it's close to enough 'off' to be an issue here. I'd wear it like ya stole it.

I'm with the 'Rock-It' view with you & this jacket....I'd be very happy with that fit :)

Solid fit, I think black and tan leather can mix well sometimes but not here. Others have mentioned that the contrast emphasizes the short fit. Black belt clears that up no probs.

I think the length is just right for the style, jacket is supposed to be rocked short and it covers your belt, so all goood. I think you look great in it.

I always think they look a bit funny that short. I'd want an extra two inches - well covering the belt - but there are clearly fans of the short jacket look. Many people wear jackets this length, so it's the old personal taste question. What do you think?

Well..I THINK...Post #29 jacket is just too big overall. Too wide at the bottom instead of slimmer fitting in the torso as most jackets of this style are. That's what is making it look so bad. Take an inch off the sleeves..an inch off the body length..an inch off each side of the body of the jacket and then it is dialed in. Much better than ending up around the belly button IMHO.

I like those type of jackets to be shorter as well, but the tan belt makes it look worse than necessary IMO. I feel the same way with the hardcore Perfecto-style jackets. Always look weird to me to see a belted Perfecto with a pants belt an inch below it.

Right. Ditch the tan belt for this (I had hoped for the "contrast" look, but oh well...)

This to me looks like Wade has borrowed his 15 year-old kid brother's jacket.
