Hey, fedoralover, a fabulous jacket! Refresh my memory/enlighten me: You don't pay shipping costs if you deal with Mark Moyes, correct? Or, at least, you don't pay the stunningly high shipping fees that accompany a jacket direct from Scotland. Right?
And, I second the request to Sefton: Let's see some pics of that Real Deal in seal. (Try saying THAT three times.)

I think it looks really good! Alot like my older RD. I've noticed that some new ones are more grainy and marblelike than others. Must be luck of the draw. Was it close to what you hoped for?

Pretty much, the back piece actually had quite a bit of grain. I was hoping for a little more on the front panels, but I've been told wearing it a lot would bring more of it out. Here's a pic of the back.

That jacket fits you perfectly ! Great jacket.
I have one that is a "Real Deal" but a 1940 contract.
There are two types of russet I have seen...one more red like yours and a more subdued russet like the one I have.

I love the color of that russet! I have a seal color US Authentic in goatskin that is a good beater jacket for the money, but I have been looking for a good russet option, and your Real Deal looks fantastic.

Thanks for sharing yours. :) That lid is pretty grand, too. ;)

Honestly Swoose, with some breaking in that jacket would look great. I think it fits you pretty good. Shove some stuff in those pockets to stretch them out a little and mist the leather and break in the arms and it will look and feel totally different. Right now it just has that "outa the box" look. But they don't stay that way for long if you mist em and wear em.

You can label yourself now - as the man that converted me

FedoraLover, I must say that over the course of my life I have never cared much for the A-2.

Seeing your jacket has completely changed me. :eusa_clap

Nice jacket. I prefer more of a brown russett color like the WWII originals had. Still, it appears to be a good everyday wearer. A bit on the expensive side for that type of use. Don't baby it!

Not always so on the russet WW2 Aeros! My original russet Aero HH almost matches my russet RealDeal..tho more faded. It seems the rusty undertones were often more exclusive to Aero russets. Even many Aero seal color A2s had that base color that made it more of a milk chocolate than dark brown. A reddishbrown base color...and rust knits..screams.."it's an Aero!"

Hoosier Daddy makes a good point. My russet real deal also is darned close in color to an original I have, though it's not an Aero original.

Many times the more chocolately looking Aeros are actually a faded seal color whose reddish undertones have come up so to speak.

I like the more scalloped look to the pockets.

The color being that red is unique to what you usually see nowadays. I'm getting tired of dark brown being too often used as the standard. The fit looks superb...

Here of course is my crazy question: can you post pics or your arms straight to the side so I can see the armholes and that part of the fit?

In regards to red-russet A-2's, there is definite evidence that many of the jackets were that color. I have included a few photos of an original Rough Wear 1401-P which still has much of its red color, even though some of it has worn off with time.
