Yep, that's pretty German looking.
I'm gonna go listen to Kraftwerk...

German with a French name...see "Marseilles jacket"

The new Aero working pattern looks okay as a version of the (many different) types of double-buttoned short jacket.

The back is great as is, but the front is lacking a bit in style - or maybe I just don't get this design? Black with brown buttons might make this one work better to my eyes.

There's a really nice looking Pegasus version

I very much like the Pegasus jacket. The Aero made me start singing "Der Kommissar." It seems a bit exaggerated, compared to the original Lever jacket, at least in front. I think Adam Ant would have looked super in it in the early 80s. Frank.

Funny, FALCO is exactly what I thought too.

The brown buttons is a nice touch, but one of the things I like about the Kradjacke, and its original, is that it's not so overtly Luftwaffe.

I was just thinking of the Pegasus when I saw the above posts. My initial impression when it first came out was that it would only look good on somebody about 20 y.o., but after seeing it on the guy in the Pegasus pics it looks much more "wearable." I wonder if that isn't the case with this one.

I've always felt that as long as you're reasonably slim, match it with a decent pair of trousers and the right attitude, age isn't a massive bar to any classically-styled leather jacket.

OK..I'll go ahead and say it(maybe it's because of my midAmerican Hoosierness)...but only if I was marching in a band would I feel comfortable wearing the jacket in post # 1. :p
Sorry..couldn't help myself :D

Yes it is. I didn't have a period image to hand, but my point is that it works well in context (where it is. a timeless design).

While the Pegasus jacket is very attractive as a stand alone jacket it is just a pastiche of what a period Marseille jacket should look like at least on that guy. The cut and fit is far too loose and modern. More like the current puffed up retro Mini's, Volkswagan's and Fiat's than a Morgan.

Isn't the 1980s reference due to the fact that there was a 30s fashion revival through until the middle of them? A bit too young to remember it clearly, but I do recall wearing some very short jackets, high-waisted trousers and bold pattern ties to a couple of weddings around 1985/86! As I've said elsewhere, I'm of the opinion that as long as you're the right shape, any jacket can look good if it's worn with confidence [huh]. Context, schmontext, it's about attitude.
