It's a killer jacket, and I ironically got three compliments on it today so I decided its s keeper.

-Brando so glad the Schott got a good home. The Aero HWM I sold a couple weeks back has got lost by the USPS. I am hopeful it turns up soon. We insured it do everyone be aware that it can happen.

Butte, very nice jacket and nice fit, you know, I always had a mythical worship of Aero, probably due to its exoticness, it's price and that it's made in Scotland (some kind of religious belief in old country workmanship). However, as I accumulated more Aero A2, I began to be disillusioned, thanks to the so called Grade 2 jackets with the Aero Flight label?
The story goes like this, I got a 82 vintage steer hide A2, with red cotton lining and gold Talon, it's one of the sales jacket on their site, very nice skin, nice fit etc, but, the pocket flap began to rip open at the corner. I just can't believe it, a cheap cooper can stand the daily wear of reaching in and out of the pocket, and an old cooper, or whatever, still have all the stitching tight and intact, so how come an Aero has such sloppy stich work? By all means, this jacket is in unworn condition.
Since I emailed Amanda, she said there were a bunch of cheaper, grade ii jackets, no longer made. But why did they make grade II in the first place and what exactly is inferior about them?

I know little about them other than a couple examples I've seen over the years. They were likely meant to compete with The Cockpit, Schott, etc.
Maybe your experience is why they stopped.
My Aeros (4 or 5 currently) are all top shelf and nothing is showing undue wear.

Yes I talked I my tailor about stretching leather and she said people do it all the time. She was saying you can strech it usually up to a half inch or half a size. Can't remember which. Probably half inch.

My cafe racer was always a little tight in the shoulders but great everywhere else. I stretched the shoulders a few times an now it's basically perfect. Big improvement for almost no effort. I'm a big fan of this technique because you can take minute sizing matters into your own hands.

Since I wanted to sell it as-new I didn't want to mess with it.
Thought it over and decided its too damn nice to flip!
My guess is 1/2", not size was gained.
This jacket will wear superbly. Hope it cools off enough to beat it about some!

I have to agree man, to me that's a top jacket. I had thought about your dilemma with regards to keeping it new. Your trepidation is completely understandable. I'm glad it worked out.

Someone grabbed a used one on eBay yesterday in a 40 for a little over $400. A steal. It already looks incredible. That is, broken in.

Not very fancy. White box and I don't recall extra junk.
Mark Moye DID put in two lovely Aero wool scarves, gratis for my sons B-3. Pretty sweet.
Aero gets me the jacket to Cali in three days from Scotland. Crazy. That's what's important.
The HBD I picked up in person. Got me a tour and some Aero pins

Fits you real nice. You look trimmer than your avatar pic…how you do it ? Let me know ? Also , does the seal "jerky" mean that there
is more grain to the leather as oppose to a smooth hide. I read some where that possibly when ordering a jacket, you could indicate
if you prefer more grain or not in certain areas…or it just pot luck either way, Thanks, Scott.

Yep.
"Jerky" has a bit of texture to it..as opposed to being smooth.
You can ask Aero to send you samples of the leathers you are considering.
Re; asking for more grain in specific areas of the jacket...I don't know about that. If they will do that I suspect they stick with the basic leather (jerky or smooth) and try to find pieces with a bit more or less grain. I'd be surprised if they actually offered that option. No harm in asking.

Read in an old post "superfuture" (2007) regarding A-2 jackets of all kinds. Learn something new re; grain on a jacket. I saw Aero
& the offering of jerky hides. I was going with JC @ Goodwear. Received some leather samples from them, they look nice but are smooth.
Like you said, I'll check Monday & see what develops as far as grain on the leather.

Smooth leather like JC uses "roughs up" quickly with wear.

Grain doesn't always come delivered. Quite often, it shows up after being worn, getting wet, beat up.
There are grainier parts if the hide, but I think they're on the stomach side of the horse. Not the most desirable part as far as I have discerned.
You'll get grain in time. Even the jerky isn't crazy grained compared to smooth when new.

As for me looking trimmer, that's 30+ pounds gone lol
I foo need the gym now. A bit of muscle depletion with the change in diet. Tons of juicing. Lots less meat (note less, not none) and less per meal. Easy, enjoyable, and sustainable.

Jeff, that is exactly what I'm looking for in the leather, the grain & texture is all there. I first saw this look on a jacket that Gen. Chennault of the
Flying Tigers wore back then. I don't know what brand he wore but that grain is awesome & I see it in your photos. Great stuff & what you say re;
JC @ Goodwear gives me hope that maybe with luck I will have one ….Someday…just have to wait for a "while".

Eastman do that whole faux-issue packaging thing beautifully. Aero are more utilitarian in their approach - it's all about the jacket, not the packaging. I've been very happy with stuff from both of them.

I'm not butte but D)... Jacket, bubble wrapped, two tags attached to jacket. One tag has statements regarding Aero's use of materials, quality etc. The other tag has the name of the person that worked on your jacket.

The jacket looks great and amazing job on slimming down your weight!

I would also like to join this long sleeve club .
